Denso Hid ballasts d2s to H7 conversion
 
I work in a auto body and have acquired a set of denso ballasts with phillips d2s bulbs. I just ordered a set of adapters to convert H7 to ds2. Any other members do this conversion? I am gonna cut the power source wires on the ballasts and solder/heat shrink the plug harnesses off my ddm kit I have currently. If anyone has done this pointers would be great, otherwise I will report back on how things go once installed

That should actually be a pretty cool setup. Using an OEM ballast is a great idea, because they have the bulk of the required safety features built in IIRC.

problem with the denso ballasts is that they are not water proof, u need to seal then really good using silicone so that water does not get inside, i have done this in the past and have seen several ballast short out due to standing water inside the ballast.

just remove the cover, apply silicone all the way around the housing and its good.

Thanks will do. I just want a more reliable hid setup. I'm sick of the ddm kit shaking while I drive. Our car should have come with hids or at least the limited model.

Ok, installed the Denso ballasts and the d2s bulbs today. It was a pain in the ass. The wires were to short so I had to lengthen them so I could mount the ballasts. I soldered on the harnesses from my ddm kit so I can unplug them if I need to remove headlight in future. Also I removed the covers on the ballast and put a bead of silicone to keep water out. I only drove the car for 20 min but no flickering or shaking. The light out put seems more even and the cutoff seems cleaner. The bulbs have no blue tint at all 4300k.
