rev limiter?
Question (warning may be a dumb one), I read the thread about the other guy who'd get a thud noise then a CEL.

My situation- Last time at test and tune and once when playing around with the car doing a hard launch, when I went to shift (1-2 maybe 2-3 as well) I heard a loud thump come from what sounded like the right front of the engine bay. If it were a N/A car I'd assume it was a back fire through the intake but I don't have enough knowledge about this engine to know. In all the situations I'm pretty sure when I went to shift I didn't get off the gas quick enough and the car may have hit the rev limiter. I looked under the hood and all seems well and there have been no service codes. The car is stage 2 (turbo back and Cobb OTS Stg 2 map). I've decided not to run the car like that until I get my new after market TMIC on and get it pro tuned.

Any ides or opinions?

Is there is a rev limiter with a Cobb Stage 2 map? There certainly wasn't one with their Stage 1 map. Don't ask my why I know this. :lol:

I need to check the mounts. I put Group N's in there, I thought they were tight enough but I'll double check them.

did you torque them with a torque wrench? torque it down to 55ft-lbs

i had a similar issue on a Neon i used to own. trans mount was worn and every time i shifted, the AEM intake pipe hit the hood on 1-3rd gears.

I need to change/check the trans mount, like all good newbs I did the group N motor mounts and pitch stop but not the trans. The car when cold does have a pretty nice side to side shake (not alarming but noticeable) when idling. I'll throw her up on some ramps and look.

I don't beleive its a rev limiter but more the ECU runs out of MAP.

After the first street tune the car runs throw the gears/rpm faster, if your not ready for it the car runs out of MAP.

FWIW, My wagon has the STI tranny mount and it made a big difference in the way the car felt during high rpm shifts. The same mount in my 09 Spec, made very little difference.
