Its getting annoying
So i have some wobble through the steering when on the highway or good roads say over 50mph. Its been an on-going issue for well over a year i would say. Its been noticeable since i got my Rota gravels fitted. Steps done so far:
So it seems like the larger 18" wheels amplify the problem i guess. Im going to try swap for a different set of 18's locally with someone else and see how that goes. if the wobble is still there, im not sure what the next step is. What else could cause this? |
Maybe a wheel bearing or bushings?

jack your front end up and check for any type of play. Did the tire shop make sure the rims are straight?
I think you have a bent rim. I know you said they've been checked, but my money is on one of your rims.
pain in the arse but maybe you can swap out one at a time and drive to see which of two it is? |
rims were confirmed straight by a reputable tyre shop. balance was off on two of them which they fixed.
i understand. just for giggles did you swap the front out for the back and still have the same problem?
ill do that tomorrow, i did it before on old tires i think, but no harm in trying i guess!
Is it worse in long sweepers? Either right or left?
i only really notice it on the highway going straight
Maybe hub centric ring missing or fell. My tire shop forgot to put on back on. Worth a check.
yeah try putting the fronts in the rear. just x then. front driver to rear pass etc.

Yeah 56.1 means no ring is needed.

I noticed my wagon would feel like the tires were out of balance on some highways other times the car felt normal. Since replacing the bad wheel bearings the problem has gone away. |
