and while I was driving... it did this :)

No potholes, no impact zones.... just that.

Now I know that tinting your windows actually has some value to it by holding that glass together.

You know those subs add weight you should really take them out. but on a serious note..... That sucks

You DD this car backwards?

Philberto 10-05-2012 06:11 PM

Well actually the glass itself is safety glass and will do that, tint or no tint. But Geez. I go with the sound waves theory. What kind of system do you have?

HAMMER DOWN 10-05-2012 06:20 PM

That's a pic. of the rear glass, the tint is the only thing holding the glass in place. The windshield is the only glass on a vehicle that as a clear plastic laminate to help keep the glass in place, when it breaks.

Moving this thread to the Exterior section as it pertains to an exterior item that is not model specific.

Bone stock sound system and yes I dd this car backwards daily... I like the extreme. On a serious note: The "explosion" if you want to call it has an epicenter right at one of the heating lines.

What I noticed was an oval burn mark around that heating line that matched the epicenter. Also, it looks like someone took a knife and cut holes in that exact part of the heating line which is not possible as it is inside the glass. My friends and I think it may have been electrical.

That's crazy. Was your rear defroster on at the time?

Something went wrong with the heating element, causing it to create MASSIVE localized heating, resulting in a thermal stress fracture of the glass.
