Borla Thumper Muffler ?
Does anybody currently run this muffler on their ride?
I bought one because I got it real cheap. I think I will just make a new flange and do the fab myself. All the clips I have heard are on Nissans so if anybody has one please let me know how you like it. http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.p...pictureid=7402 |

how do you make a new flange? I've wanted to know this for a long time.
Also the pipe on the stock muffler is so short before it bends it didn't seem like an easy task to try to get a flange on there even if i knew how to do it. |
Its easy to make a new flange...Take the old muffler off the car.
Take a piece of paper, I prefer poster board because its pretty rigid. Place it up against the flange of the muffler and rub the paper carefully holding it in place so it doesnt slide around. When you lift the paper you have a template to transfer to a piece of steel to be cut out. I am waiting on some stainless pipe to use for the connection. If I can get all the miter cuts right I ill have a custom made pipe and flange and it should bolt up to the stock location. Quote:

Well after being to lazy I decided to just take it down to the local muffler shop..
They just cut the flanges out and welded in a chunk of pipe. This thing is REALLY Quiet !!! At highway speeds you barely hear it. For anyone looking for a muffler with a little bit of sound this one is it. No B.S. it really is just right. http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.p...pictureid=7429 http://legacygt.com/forums/picture.p...pictureid=7428 |
Now paint the muffler and piping black.

One problem with that...I live in Minnesnowta where the salt and sand spray will remove that faster than you can blink. Winters here are not kind to cars.

Get some high temp rust preventative paint to coat the new welds. It's worth it for the added protection.
Looks like they removed the flange connection entirely, and made your mid-pipe and axle-back one long ass pipe. |
