Is this the beginning of another rebuild thread?
|
since no one has commented, I'll bite, what are we looking at here? cylinder head? something leaking oil?
|
my guess you are looking at a minimum of a hot-spot on a piston. Chances are you are looking at the top pistion ring, since piston crown is probably broken. would need better pics to be able to tell for sure..
But to anser OPs question.. YES IT IS.. |
you would have been better off asking a 2nd grader to draw us a picture of it.
are you running stock pistons? didn't I just see you run a 12.x @ 115 in the quarter mile thread? |
That run may of cost me I'm going to try the scope camera again
|
Spark plug get mangled? if so read the "I mangled a spark plug" thread and you'll see all you need
|
Looks like top ring to me.. hopefully only a bad angle image.
good luck Edit: after seeing a larger pic it looks like the recessed areas for the valves blending into the stepped diameter.. Question should be why are you scoping them? Guessing something is wrong.. |
are you boosting properly? Compression in that cylinder? is it misfiring?? So many questions to answer!
|
Boost fine compression 130 psi no misfire
Some oil consumption need to get another camera as I broke mine |
Why don't you tell us why your doing this ?
Are you using a lot of oil? I was adding about .2qt every few day's, the engine ran fine at 21psi. Never did a compression test, I just got tired of adding oil and replaced the short block. |

Found this today now starting a list of parts. Suggestions welcome. Sticking with a 400 horse reliable build. |
hone cylinders, drop in wisecos... rods not necessary. I like Wiseco because anti-friction coating AND anti-det grooves on top ring land. The only drop-in piston that gives both.
Just my .02 |
