WTB (NoVA) : Rota Center Caps

Looking for some center caps. Not looking for new as I can just go out and buy those. Previous owner never took the plastic off, so it is fused with the actual Rota sticker. Would like to clean that up a bit.
Let me know what you got!

You could also look at buying some replacement center cap decals as well. I picked up some STi ones from fastwrx. Peeled the Rota sticker off, applied new decals, and looks pretty!

Or you could buy decals from someone who is way cooler.

Are they easy to apply? The surface is slightly curved...wouldn't want to get wrinkles on it...

DocHolladay23 09-28-2012 10:42 AM

Center cap overlays are cake, much easier than emblem overlays especially if you take them off and can sit down and apply them. Vinyl is naturally pretty flexible so as long as you take your time applying them you don't need to worry about wrinkles (a hair dryer/heat gun helps if the curve is being a PITA).

Oh yeah, but from this guy ^^

They are super easy to do. I put my center caps, one at a time in mildly boiling water for about 1-2 min. Do not let them touch the bottom of the pan and seriously no longer than a min or two-they will warp.

Buy stickers from Doc and you can get rid of the Rota 'R' heh

You lost me when you talked about boiling them? Is that to make application easier or removal of the stickers easier?

DocHolladay23 09-28-2012 01:49 PM

That's an option for applying them, it's just a wet application and the hot water helps the vinyl to stretch/flex more.

psucaptainkickass 09-28-2012 01:51 PM

Oh man.....it must just be one of those days.

You're boiling the center cap...to put the sticker on easier? Hot cap makes the vinyl stretch more.

OR

You're boiling the sticker?...hot sticker makes the vinyl stretch a little to fit on the cap.

DocHolladay23 09-28-2012 02:12 PM

Boiling the center cap, sorry I just re-read my post and it makes no sense  Boiling the cap helps get the OE sticker off, you can leave the cap hot/wet to make application of the new decal easier.

Got it!

Can you do the old school fuji logo that is here:

As a centercap? Black and white one with no text. And instead of white make it the grey that is a little further down in that thread?

dingbang 09-28-2012 02:35 PM

Opps, yeah, guess I should have completed my thought. Boil to get the sticker off, and it also helps that it's warm when applying the new one.

Like I said in the first post though--be very careful when you boil the center caps. I warped one of mine b/c I wasn't paying attention to how long it was in there. I barely had to use any goo-gone to remove left over residue using this method.

If you don't want the text then I absolutely can! Taylor was nice enough to offer me the vector files if I need them so I'll just need to touch base with him.

psucaptainkickass 09-28-2012 03:35 PM

Yeah I am definitely liking those. Plain, no text. Let me know when you're able to touch base with Taylor.
