2013 MY list of suspension changes
Alright guys for those of you who have been wondering what suspension changes have been made.
Front Swaybar: Has been increased to 26mm, was 23mm (legacy) and 24mm (outback) Front Strut: The damping force has been altered to improve the feeling of handling stability and driving comfort. Front Suspension Bracket: To improve the driving comfort, the front suspension bracket lower trim line, and the front suspension bracket upper thickness have been modified from 2.6mm to 3.2mm. Rear Swaybar: Is 16mm, was 16mm (legacy) and 15mm (outback). Rear Subframe: To improve handling stability and driving comfort and to reduce vibration and noise, we increased the spring constant in vertical direction for the bushing. Rear Axle Housing: To improve handling stability and driving comfort and to reduce vibration and noise, we increased the spring constant for the springs in front of and behind the trailing link rear bushing. Rear Shock Absorber:
To reduce steering vibration, the inner shaft holding structure has been modified. A dynamic damper for the column has also been added. Also its worth noting a change that was done for the 2012 MY Rear Lateral Link: Pillow ball bushing has been adopted on the outer side of the rear lateral link. |
Very awesome info.

Where did this come from? Subaru USA?

Data is from the "new car info" from the service manual.

Interesting that they beefed up the front sway and left the rear. That seems like the wrong direction.

All those grandma's unexpectedly going full opposite lock in their legacy's on freeway onramps, too much oversteer man!

wait does this mean the 3.6r finally has a front sway bar upgrade??
|
Can you post the pics or describe a little better what some of these are - for the front suspension bracket, is that the bracket at the front of the engine cradle? And for the "increased spring constant" are those just stiffer bushings? (and for the rear axle housing, it's referring to stiffer bushings, too, correct?
26mm is a big change for the front - 60-ish% increase in torsional stiffness... (surprised they didn't up the rear to the 19mm STi bar - that's a 99% increase in stiffness) Quote:

Has the ride height been dropped compared to the pre-facelift 2.5 and 3.6 models? In many of the pics there seems to be less of a gap between the tyre and wheelarches.

Be nice if we could get a running list of all the new parts. Here's what I have so far...(2013 3.6R)
Front Struts - Left 20310AJ07A, Right 20310AJ06A Front Springs - 20330AJ10A x2 Rear Struts - 20365AJ04A x2 Rear Springs - 20380AJ10A x2 Looks like the bushings and dynamic dampener are in the TSB for steering wheel vibration. Looks like those just carry over for the '13 (of course different bushings due to the 26mm sway) |
I should have the 3.6r front sway bar and bushings by wed or thursday
|
I wonder how would the 2011 3.6R feel like with 2013 struts & springs.
