Fog Lights - Are they worth having on the Legacy?

My question for you: Are the OEM fog lights worth having on the current generation (2012-2012) Legacy? What's your experience?

Are they:

- Good - Add good function
- Cosmetic value only - nice looking, but not really functional
- Not worth having

Note: I know - another fog light thread. But I've read through most of what I could find, and most threads shift from "are the worth having" to "how do I install".

Thank you for your opinions!!

do you live in an area that has fog? no need for fog lights if you dont get fog. spend the $200 on something else. or you could change the bulbs to some thing much brighter and use them as driving lights.

On really dark nights, they light the side of the road. They can be invaluable, when high beams are not the answer.
Cheers.

bright yellow fogs help you flex your JDM muscles.

I really only feel I get cosmetic value out of mine but I have a HID conversion so I get plenty of light without them.

They don't do much in heavy fog, but they are decent driving lights on dark nights when I can't use the high beams.

I don't seem to notice a huge difference in terms of light output when using them. But cosmetically I wouldn't live without them.

My thoughts exactly

I just use them to light up the sides better when traveling on dark narrow roads through the woods, etc.(especially areas with a lot of deer and winding blind turns). I don't use them at all over ~45mph.

Lights up the road signs for me since I had my squirrel finders deleted.

Works great on dark back roads IMO... a lot wider spread than my HID's and it illuminates the road better than my HID's on rainy nights since I have yellow fogs.

good to see lane marks in rain and fog.

Safety is measured in milliseconds. Led brake lights provide a fraction of a second longer reaction time. It's the same with fogs. They tend to round out the low beam pattern on the fifth gen lights.

IMO they are definitely helpful.

i just installed my OEM fog lamps today. they are worth it.

1. cosmetics. i can't live w/o them either.
2. illumination on darker roads as stated previously.

I just got my car not even a week ago and i'm dying to put fogs in for cosmetic purposes. Anyone care to recommend good moderately priced aftermarkets?

Although i really like these ones :)
