Hi from South Africa
Hey guys

New member here, all the way from sunny South Africa. I've been lurking for a few days now just to get the feel of the place and check what you guys get up to.

I am now on my second Scooby, sold my hawk-eye WRX and got a 2009 Legacy GT-B. But it would seem that there is quite a difference in spec between the AUDM/JDM/USDM cars. From what I have been able to find out, it seems that we get AUDM spec cars in SA, but I have not been able to verify it 100% yet.

Anyway, still getting to grips with the huge differences between the WRX and the GT, but liking it all the same.

Here are 2 quick snaps of her:

Now as I mentioned earlier, seems like there is some wierdness going on with the different market cars, so a mini spec sheet for your perusal! ;)

EJ255 with 186KW (252BHP)
6sp manual
18" Spec-B wheels
Bilstein shocks (not sure of any other suspension components)
SI-Drive but no VDC
Dual(apparently) Xenon HID's with integrated washers
McIntosh 6cd mp3/wma player
No GPS/Nav
only Driver electric seat, no seat heaters at all.

Thats about all I could think of now that may differ ever so slightly.

See you on the blacktop ;)

Some spec b's came out with a fatboy turbo. Your car will have a vf40 and will max boost in si drive at around 0.7bar. We currently tuned my car to 1 bar boost. The nice part is if you know the cars gears and clutch you have a very mean car. Only downfall is clutch. If it goes instruct them to install a sti clutch. Warren at subaru centurion did not do this in my car. Went back 3 times for clutch repairs.

Hey thanks for the info man!

I have actually joined SOCSA too, so have spoken to a few guys in the club. Don't think I'll modify the legacy like I did with the rex, looking for reliability (lol yeah I know) with the "family car" ;)

Was at scoobyfest on the 1st of December too, wow the car is amazing around Zwartkops. Much more forgiving and smoother then the impreza, presume the longer chassis has something to do with that too.

Actually. The legacy gt b chassis is used on the ive heard. But if the need for speed arises. Srd is the team. My car is going bsck for more by end jan. Must finish the tuning and a few other secret mods. Family car +1. Keeps up with StI. All round joy. Just wish there was a vdc.

Welcome to Get thee to modding. ;) Lots of websites for companies that ship internationally. comes to mind. I'm sure you can get something closer for cheaper though. I have no idea what it would be though. I'm sure some of those closer to you have some favorite sites. Meybe one of them could chime in on that.

Do you know about All subie site listing every option for every Subaru going back for at least 10 years. No idea if it's USDM specific or not though. But still a good starting point to find the differences.

Also, from what I hear, that generation of LGT does very nicely with a stage 1 tune. Consider getting an AccessPort for a super easy mod and see how much you like to go even faster.

Can someone translate this into psi for me? :D

squid372 01-07-2013 10:09 PM

.7 bar is round about 10psi and 1 bar is about 13 psi. If memory is coreect
