Can this Intercooler be repaired??

Bought this last week from a forum member. Finally got a chance to closely examine and below is a picture of the flange that mounts to the turbo compressor. Was not informed of this damage pre sale. It is tweaked pretty bad. Am I out $450 or does this look like a machine shop could repair? Guess thats what I get for buying used.

JB weld it.

It can be repaired, but honestly I'd get my money back from the seller and find another. Not worth your time after paying $450 already IMHO.

I'm figuring if he sold it without mentioning it, I doubt I'd get my money back. Thought of JB welding but the flange is bent too, pretty bad. Need a flat surface so it won't leak. Going to have to find a shop to check it out.

^^^ +1 to fix it right. The IC flange need to be TIG welded & then re-machine. I'm guessing $100-$200 more to get it fixed right.

How did you pay? If it was PayPal or credit card, dispute it!

My thoughts exactly. PayPal dispute here I go. Pretty pissed. Was going to install this weekend.

save the fs page. sucks that the seller didnt say anything was wrong or took a pic of the crack, also its always good to ask if theres anything wrong and ask for more detailed pics (flange, mounting points....). jumping on it quick is not always good

if the seller said theres nothing wrong with it, then he lied. but its goes both ways right now since the item description was not said and assumed

That looks like crap. Maybe the guy didn't know it was jacked up? or perhaps the IC was busted during shipping. Either way, I'd contact the seller to start the return process.

HAMMER DOWN has the ONLY correct way to fix it properly, that is if you can't get your money back, the cracks need to be relieved(ground out) to make room for proper weld penetration/adhesion, after that the flange needs to be straightened/milled for a true fit. Not un-fixable by any means, is a bit of work though.

Already sent emails and messages to try and take care of the issue. I doubt that will get me too far so I'm searching/pricing how to fix it in the meantime. Thanks
