RTG Engineering is proud to announce the release of several custom battery tiedowns.

http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...e/IMG_0820.jpg

Replace your factory stamped steel tiedown with this brushed aluminum piece and add some style to your engine compartment. Precision cut from brushed 6061 aluminum so it will never rust! Coated in Alodine 1001 which is an aircraft grade coating to help prevent corrosion and oxidization. The coating also preps the part for paint if you choose to do so.

As always all RTG Engineering products are proudly made in the U.S.A. so you are supporting American manufacturing.

Designed to fit OEM style batteries. Note: Some vehicles may require buying a longer j-bolt which can be picked up from most auto part store for several dollars.

Should fit:
1993-2011 Subaru Impreza/WRX
2000-2012 Subaru Legacy
2004-2011 Subaru Forester
2005-2009 Subaru Outback

May fit other Subaru models and years.

All tiedowns are $37.99 shipped to USCON.

What about corrosion?

I'd like to see if we can get a "spec.B" group buy organized. I know there were a few interested parties in your feeler thread. Subscribed!

Great question. They will more than likely come with a clear Adoline 1001 conversion coating. I am experimenting this week with it. Its an aircraft grade coating and will protect against corrosion and also make the part ready to be painted if you choose to do so.

VENDOR REVIEW:
Shamus has been great to work with. I asked for a custom design before the first manufacturing run. I asked for something complicated that caused several design issues (too much in too small a space) and he cheerfully resubmitted designs to me, finally coming up with a design that fit perfect and as still true to my request.

ALREADY GOT MY CUSTOM DESIGN! Three of them in fact (one for the OBXT, one for the LGT and one is a gift but as soon as it is given I will post up pics.)

Shamus in your pics thickness of the aluminum is not apparent because of the shadow. I think should should add either a profile shot or a profile shot next to a tape measure. These things are beefy

Good idea Max. I will add some pics of the thickness. The parts are 1/4" thick.

Yes, we will probably be making a 2.5XT one for all the Outback and Forester folks in the near future.

Any idea how that reacts with powdercoat or plastidip? I presume that if it's good for paint, it's good for those applications as well. Please confirm.

Reading online, people have powdercoated over alodine as its very similar to painting and I would assume plastidip would work as well since its similar to a paint. You would want to mention to a powdercoat supplier that the part has been alodine since they might sandblast first before powdercoating thus removing the alodine.

Also, I can send out parts minus the alodine coating if anyone prefers. Just make a note in the paypal order.

Dujo 03-12-2012 10:37 AM

Payment sent. :)

The things that I have had pcoated were mediablasted so the coating should be a non-issue. Sorry I don't have pics up, it was a really busy weekend and the bigger than oem interstate battery that I have does not fit the tiedown with the stock jbracket. Gotta get a new one from the auto parts store for like $2.
