Steel wheels

Where can I get 17 inch steel wheels for my 2012 Legacy 2.5 ltd. The day I got my new car they were expecting 6 inches of snow in two days so I just ran out and got snow tires to fit the factory rims. Now that it should be getting nice out soon I will be needing wheels to put the snows on and I can mount the brand new OEM tires back on the factory wheels. I've looked all over, tire rack and dozen of on line sites and I can't find 17 inch steel wheels anywhere. Tire rack has 17 wheels for $109 which isn't that bad but steel wheels would be half the price.

never seen 17" steelies.

Only 17" steelies I have seen are on newer base chevy Impalas and Malibus.

I agree. 16" steelies i've seen, in fact I think thats what comes on the base model with hubcaps/wheel covers. 17", not so much.

I think the best option would be to hopefully find someone that has a factory set of wheels that they'd sell you cheap. Unlikely cheap is the correct word... but ya can try.

You can get cheap alloys for the same price as stealies these days. I got 17" alloys for $100 a piece and mounted my snows on them.

I'm working on this as I once saw a French-Canadian webpage purporting to offer 17" Subaru-pattern steelies. There's a custom shop here in town that sells a lot of rims and I'll wander over tomorrow to see if that page was fantasy or reality.

Canada is but 45 miles away, so there's lots of cross-border commerce up here.

Diamond racing. They make steelies in any shape size offset bolt pattern and even cut out that you want! Not that much money either.

Anyone have one of Diamond's steelies that we know will fit over LGT brake calipers?

They'll do backspacing as well. If you give them a call, I would imagine you could tell them what kind of car you have and they'll take that into consideration.

They're really a great company to deal with

Yeah. I ended up going with some alloys as well. There are no steelies that are of reasonable price that will bolt up to this car. So unless you go some other route and try to find custom steelies, there is no sense. Bought the cheaper rims that are not that bad with ws70's from tirerack. All wheels, tires mounted and balanced for less than 1k to my door.

Now I used the those in the winter months and bolt the stockers up in summer. Once the stock tires wear down a bit more. I will go with a a more aggressive summer tire.

I'm sure they're not pretty but you'll prob maximize tire width and a super light weight wheel. Those would be perfect for a 2.5i.
