Thinking of Getting A GT

its basically between this and a wrx, my only question is it possible to mod/tune the legacy as much as it is the wrx? i'd love to get a gt because of the looks and insurance and still have a sleeper. nothing to serious just around 350ish horsepower. or would it just be easier/cheaper to do with a wrx. thanks everyone

Are you talking 10+ or 05-09? Plenty of modding of both going on. 05-09 has more stuff and some of it is interchangeable with the wrx.

the 05-09, alright cool. that sounds good

if you have the mod bug and can live with the smaller and generally cheaper(but not by much really) interior of the WRX, then you should get the wrx.

AFAIK, there is no aftermarket turbo options for the 5th gen LGT. you are currently limited to whatever stage 2 power levels are. also, the wrx comes stock with a bigger turbo, so you will get more out of it in general.

...don't the 5th Gen LGT and the 2009+ WRX have the same turbo?..

There is a turbo upgrade path for the 5th gen with BNR. Below is a BNR That's 318 HP to the wheels on a Mustang dyno. To the crank is about 20% more or 381 HP to the crank and 416 ft-lb TQ.

Yes a WRX has more abundent parts, but the 2010+ LGT can be easily modified to Stage II. WRX has a larger turbo and will deiver more top end HP. But the equal lenght headers and turbo placement let the 5th gen turbo spool quickly with little lag.

It is is quite the sleeper. The increase HP/TQ down low is well suited as a daily driver. Add the extra comfort of the 5th gen both up front and big increased in rear seat comfort.

no.

its good to see that the 5th gen has a larger turbo upgrade availaible.

5th gen heads and pistons are also different increasing performance and gas mileage. Increased turbo compression (spools quicker) and intercooler is about 20% bigger. Higher oil pump flow rate as well.
