Coppertone may be out.....

Had my Legacy dropped off at the stereo shop for a complete revamping. New speakers ,amps, rca's, radio, and pin stripe removal. On Sunday I will be giving this to my father as a gift. As such either I will rock my Dodge for awhile, or pick up a Lexus LS460L. Don't worry I will still be selling parts at a great price and still remain loyal to this site. Thanks to all for the hours of entertainment, and to those new found friends. :)

Damn.....moving onto an LS? Congrats! I'm sure we'll see you trolling around.

As long as you guys will still accept me. :)

My father in law has an LS460. I highly recommend against one.

You are most funny. We'll always accept you. Besides, you'll still be your father's LGT adviser!!

coppertone 09-10-2011 02:31 PM

I'm hoping that he will accept it, he can be stubborn about taking freebies. :)

There was a recall on the cylinder heads, requiring an engine rebuild.
There were constant problems with the 8-speed auto.
The factory Nav is clunky.
It is difficult to be comfortable on long car trips.
An a laundry list of other problems.

The LS430 was a great car. The 460 is a major let down.

If you are buying new, do yourself a favor and get a BMW 7-series.

coppertone 09-10-2011 05:32 PM

Def new but I was really feeling the awd. Well I definately am not trying to bring new problems into my car life. I see that I need more research. My lawyer/accountant drives an Audi S8, let me see if he is feeling that car. Thanks for the heads up. :)

coppertone, sorry to see you go....check out an Infiniti M37X - great AWD system, but of course, you need to Like the styling....Also an MB E350 2012 with Sport Package, AWD. The Infiniti M is probably the best deal out there, the MB I think is very close second as far as Value for the $$$$$ - and has better styling. I have an Infinii G37X - 2010 - excellent car Except for the quirky 7 speed AT. But others car owners of cars with morenthan 5 speed ATs seem to have expressed similar concerns of hesitation and jerkiness.....best advisee from this Old Man: Take the car for a good long multi situational Test drive, stop and go HARD, cruising and braking, highway runs, local roads, harsh roads, smooth roads, .....you get the idea. Don't just do the 15-20 minute drive, It's your money - a lot of money - take your Time!!!

Well if you test drive the Audi A8, you'll be hooked. That's one sweet-ass car. A lot of money, but it is so worth it. Two words that the Japanese don't seem to get are: Fit and Finish. Those two words are some of the first that Audi engineers learn. You'll love those cars!

I hope you do stick around here some. Your hijinx with trading out exhaust systems will be missed!

Sorry to hear you're thinking about leaving. Good luck with whatever car you choose.

Guess this means I should watch the classifieds ;)

BAC5.2 09-11-2011 03:51 AM

If that's the category of vehicle you are considering, I can't recommend the 750 x-drive enough. I did a 7 hour road trip with my FIL in his when he got it. Brilliant car.

The A8 is great, but I'd wait to see if they do a TDI model with AWD. The rumor of a TDI was being passed for the 2012 or 2013 model year.

Almatti 09-11-2011 06:37 AM

Chas, I do agree an A8 is a fantastic car!! if you have a spare $100K around. Remember the site we are on: Subaru !!! For that kind of money, IMHO, the Subbie is a great Value...If they could produce an Infiniti , Lexus, Acura Luxury line... it would be an interesting product to consider.

In the >$75k market, Japanese makers are no longer contenders. It wouldn't matter what they offered, the Germans and Italians would win.
