Fast Motorsports (FMS) FMIC kit arrived!
1 Attachment(s)
Black Piping, Red Couplers, Silver Core.
Should look great under the hood. |
im just curious, what made you decide on fms fmic instead of others out there? im planning to get one later later on..
|
I've had some trustworthy folks mention thier dissapointment with the racer x kit, and honestly, Josh from Import Image has been a stellar vendor, and made me an offer on the kit and the painted pipes I couldn't refuse.
This kit doesn't seem to be as tried or tested, but what I have read has been positive thus far. |
If you don't mind, take pics of the install. I'm curious as to how this kit fits from a non-vendor perspective.
|
Are able to keep fogs? Cost?

If you turn this into an installation thread, I'd be more than happy to link to it from my FMIC thread: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea...hs-100773.html |
I'd be happy to take pics and document the entire install. That was my plan all along.
I wish I had the tools to measure pressure drop or change in air temp vs. OEM IC, but this'll have to be a straight forward install walkthrough only. Later, I can update with tune results etc. Install will hopefully be in about two weeks, expect more then. |

Fogs - YES. Cost - $640 shipped WITH painted pipes from Import Image, but as I had mentioned it was a special deal from Josh since I was doing almost all of the rest of my shopping through him. If you're interested I recommend sending him an email and letting him know what's on your "wish list". He'll work up a great "combo" package price for you. |
does it fit behind the oem crash beam, or come with a replacement?
|
^^ there's no beam pictured. Looks like it fits behind it. I installed this kit on a '10 WRX and it came with a new beam, the holes in the supplied beam did not line up with the core holes on the top, so we had to drill the beam out.

It DOES come with a replacement beam, that also doubles as a mount for the core. ^^ The only fitment issue I've heard of thus far are the holes not lining up on the beam. * The site mentions that it will NOT fit with stock airbox, unlike the RacerX version (m sprank got it to fit), so I'm running a KS Intake which Josh says fits fine. |
they may have fix it, but, as you're aware Fast motorsports is designed and developed by import image, same as IPR, and we all know how the IPR TMIC fits! I was on the edge between the fast fmic and the racer-x. I just so happen to get the racer-x bnib straight trade for my avo tmic. I had no problems installing it, plus with the racer-x's smaller tubing it helps a lot with a 16g sized variant, and stock.
|
We'll see if the mounting holes were fixed! I didn't realize the tubing sizes were different between the two. Interesting - as I'm leaning towards the 16g right now.
|
it's not a huge difference, but def better if your using a stock turbo.

Just saw this thread, got mine mounted yesterday and made up a how to http://legacygt.com/forums/showthrea...ic-166614.html should answer some of your guys questions.
