What is your MPG?
When I was shopping for the car I was shocked that the auto gets better mpg vs the manual, usually it is the other way around. Event though the auto gets better mpg, I still refused to get it. I had the car for about 1,500 miles now(1 month) and noticed that my mpg was higher then rated.

So what is your mpg?
I have the 2011 2.5i manual transmission. If I drive on the freeway I can get an average of a 32-35mpg. On the city I get an average of about 24mpg. Again this is a manual transmission and the car is rated at 19/28.

Those with the auto transmission, what MPG are you getting?

I drove up to Denver and back from the Springs over the weekend. Averaged just under 34mpg. Not too shabby considering there was some time above 90 and some time around 25 while driving passed an accident on the shoulder.

We just made the trip from Cleveland to Boston, in the Outback 2.5I with the CVT and averaged over 37 mpg highway..... I was up over 40 Avg, but I let Krampedal Kelly my wife drive for a bit and hence the drop. My LGT on the other hand........well I didn't buy that for gas mileage :) still Avg. 26.1 mixed right now though. I'll take it.

If I make 20MPG I'm happy.

Got 26 on the highway coming back from the 4th holiday.

With mostly highway driving to and from work, I'm averaging 27...

On my trip to WBM I hit 28 with an avg speed of 70. By the time I got there I was over 330 miles on the trip meter with over a quarter tank to go.:) Not bad for a big 6.

I'm usually right at 21.

With my manual, 25% City, 35% LA rush hour, 40% freeway, I usually average 25 mpg combined. All city, it's 18 mpg. All freeway, I got up to 40 mpg (but I suspect it's lower since dealer overfilled my tank, and some downhill action). I would say 35 mpg all freeway on the last few trips I've done.

I've got 2200 miles on my 3.6 so far and I've gotten 23.5 mpg overall & 25.1 on my last tank. I mostly commute to work which is about 50/50 highway/city driving.

I went to OBX in May from Pittsburgh to OBX and back, I averaged 33.5 mpg. Daily driving I get about 22.5 mpg.

Not too bad for a Sedan that happpens to have a Turbo.....

2010 Legacy 2.5GT (stock)
Mobil 91oct only

Fwy/hwy @ about 70mph, I avg 30mpg.
I do 120mi per trip every other weekend from San Diego to Chino.

Local @ 35mph-50mph, I avg 22.5mpg.
M-F home>work>grocery stores with 95% local daily driving.

OP didn't ask for GT mileage but since others are I will too!

I only drive local 98% of the time so I can only give city mileage: ~22-23 MPG

jhosler 07-06-2011 02:14 PM

I am averaging about 27mpg mix of hwy and city with the CVT.

Gire 07-06-2011 02:22 PM

30+ HWY MPG in an AWD car is pretty good! Mind you it's no Nissan Juke or Hyundai Sonata, but pretty great for a Subaru nonetheless.

27MPG mixed in the CVT is also pretty good.

Subarus have never been great MPG performers... and have been left behind by competitors in recent years.

Of course the newly re-designed Impreza coming out is supposed to be a big step forward for Subaru. Their new engine will likely replace all the EJ20/ 25s in the very near future.

Hopefully it's a turbocharged 3.5 liter flat-6
