For the money, I would do a rear swaybar. I just did this and am wondering why I waited so long. It has improved the handling of the car - now the rear seems and feels more connected where as before it was a little vague.

Following that I would look at Access Port or a tune - this will get on the road for performance, but beware once you wake up the motor, your wallet may not stand a chance. Basically you can go as far as you want. There are members here with amazing numbers for Hp and Torque and all from a wagon. These engines have a lot of potential.

I recommend that you grab a beverage and search the turbo forum here first if performance is your goal. If handling, then start with the suspension forum. There is wealth of info in either of these that can help one avoid some issues while serving to help you reach the enhancements your after.

Good luck with your plans.

Any mod that you could make to a 4th Gen Legacy (2004-2009) would apply to your OBXT. The 3rd Gen OBes are built on the 4th Gen Legacy platform (read: essentially the same platform) and have extended suspension mounts to raise the body for OB ground clearance, smaller brakes, larger tires, different final drive ration, and slower steering rack ratio. But the mechanicals, engine, turbo, cooling, AWD setup, etc. are the same.

I'd slam it to the ground and get some nice fitting wheels

but what is your plan?

Ugh don't remind me about the steering rack.

I GOTTA do something about it. It's painfully slow when the road gets twisty.

Suspension mods made my car infinitely better than it was. It wasn't easy, but the results make me smile every time I get behind the wheel. It turned my Outback into one of the best cars I've ever driven.

^ Concur on the steering rack - was surprised at how sluggish it felt compared to the LGT.

Thanks for all of the info guys!

I like the idea of leaving the outside mostly stock and having a stiffened suspension and engine mods. (Famous last words?)

Is it smarter to get an access port or an exhaust first? Does anyone make an Outback wagon specific exhaust or will it have to be modified to fit?

AVO Turboworld makes a sick sounding, magnaflow-canned exhaust. Here's mine:

Paul is awesome to deal with too.

Sounds great. I don't see an Outback specific exhaust on their site though, am I missing something?

Here is another newbie question for you guys, I found a Perrin Blow Off Valve online for what seems to be a decent deal, it says its for an 08 WRX and according to the Perrin site the 08 WRX bov will fit an 05-09 LGT, which means it would fit my car... right?

I hear you on the steering rack. Sadly the LGT rack won't work in the XT.
