So, I sucked it up and bought a '97 Impreza which was freshly wrecked that had a recent, full, Version II STi swap. He threw in all kinds of goodies as he wasn't able to use them anymore. Pics below!

i see no pictarz?

how much did you pick it up for?

eekay 06-14-2011 04:41 PM

Sorry. Wouldn't let me upload them. I think they were too large. Fixing now. :)
I paid a total of $3000 USD for everything and he threw in another WRX turbo and another lightweight flywheel. \o/

Haha. I'm putting the motor into this car (1999 Legacy GT Limited) which actually looks quite a bit different nowadays... Little less ugly? :)

Haha. Thanks? I really want this project to go quickly. I can't wait to have this all finished. Pretty exciting!

where does everyone keep getting that hood? ive seen it more often lately... and whats on the fenders near the hood pins out of curiosity?

eekay 06-14-2011 09:22 PM

I've had the hood for about 3-4 years now. I got from VIS Racing, IIRC.

On the fenders are some road line marker lights. You use them to determine where your car is in relation to the edge or line of the road. Super helpful on extremely narrow roads.

Yeah its a VIS hood. Doesn't come very cheap either. It retails at about $700 iirc

Nice! They certainly have become popular lately which sucks. I do like the plexi though. Mine is only a track car so it doesn't see any any moisture...

Would do this conversion myself, but the electronics is a little bit off-putting. Wish there were a way to do a full late-model STI conversion into one of my 98 BDs without having to rewire everything and still retain the 98 body wiring functionality.

Good luck on your project.

You can merge the two harnesses together

since the pictures, ive put the screen back in it to maintain the original look of the hood, but I have the plexi still sitting under the screen to keep water out

Back to the OP - you will be able to run 15 - 18 lbs of boost on that turbo and hit up to 250hp at the wheels with a good tune. That is very similar to my engine and I'm at 230hp @ 15psi with the TD04. I highly suggest a front mount intercooler though. Lose the top mount! Its damaged anyways.

+1
It's still a lot of work. But, not as much as many people think...

The top mount that is on this engine will certainly be going. However, I'm not sure about getting rid of the top mount idea completely. I can't stand FMIC lag! If I can manage to mount a large TMIC, I'm doin' it! Even if it means serious hood modification... We'll see though. *shrug*

honestly. how hard would a full harness merge from a ej22 to a ej20k for someone who's never done it?

is it worth the $600+ to get it done plug and play?
