mpg using e85
Hey everyone please post engine specific mods and your gas mileage using e85 just trying to get an idea of what I can be expecting. Thanks

I was thinking about posting this exact same post, just got my car tuned w/ stg IIe and for the last half tank my computer is reading about 17.5 mpg vs my usual 21mpg on 91. But it looks like my computer is reading low as my acutal mpg is about 18.5 based on miles driven vs gallons pumped. I've only driven about 200 miles since being tuned on e85. What I will say is that my car feels like its driving smoother when under boost which helps explain my less mpg, lots of fun I will tell you that

^^ Dont know how you calculate :eek::rolleyes::cool: per mile. Can only imagine what stg 3 w/ e85 feels likes, hopefully I"ll know soon

FWIW, grimlin(wife of owner of awdtuning here in Texas) has been trying to convince me to switch to E85 for awhile now. She says that TGV deletes make a big difference. Her mpg went from 17mpg at Stage 2 +E85 to 23mpg with just tgv deletes and an EL header.

anyone else out there want to share their e85 mpg info. I'm at a half tank on my stg2e tune and my trip computer is showing 15.4 w/ about 120 miles so far, I really hope the computer is wrong/low. Wont be filling up for another couple days, then I'll share my 1st full tank mpg on e85 w/ just a walbro and stock fp, stock turbo

Just filled up, 3/4 tank, 11.3 gallons and only 175 miles, 15 mpg. I talked to my tuner and were going to look at the tune cause its lower than expected. 90% city miles so I doubt I'll pick up more than 1-2 mpg. E85 is is 3.19 here vs 3.69 so I'm losing the cost per mile battle but its pretty fun...

e85...mpg??...I didn't know I was supposed to get half decent gas mileage on e85...

If you guys went into E85 expecting great power gains for cheap fuel, you did it right. If you went in also expecting fuel economy, you did it wrong.
Lots of info on this in other threads but usually I think the expectation is somewhere around 20% worse fuel economy. Ethanol has less energy density than gasoline. That being said, please keep posting your experience, I want to see how far off "breaking even" E85 is (given that it is cheaper than premium). I have been considering it myself given how abuntant E85 is in Nebraska :lol: |
Do it for the power gains...MPG was something that wasn't a concern for me. Used a little over third of a tank going about 160ish miles when I went up to get my GrimmSpeed MBC brace installed.
I figure as long as I'm in double digits for MPG, that counts...plus my exhaust smells sweet lol |

Just filled up the tank, 16.3 mpg with 30/70 city/hwy split. Not too great but keeping right up w/ a stg2+ Sti was worth it
