New member from Chile

Hello to all the member of this great forum.

My name is Francisco and Im from Chile.
I currently drive a Toyota Rav4 AT, 2001, 4wd and 116.000 km and Im currently looking a new car, and my first choice is a Legacy 2005 or newer.

I donīt know if in your countries you have the same models available in here. Chile is a very important market for Subaru, because Subaru here they sell lotīs of cars, and almost everyone who drives a Subaru, when itīs time to change the car, they buy a new Subaru, they continue with the company.

Many launches of Subaru cars worldwide, are first released in Chile that every other country in the world, besides Japan of course.

The model Im looking for is either a Legacy 2.0i , or a 2.0 R. The main difference is the engine. Both are a 2 liter, but the 2.0i has I think 137hp, and the 2.0R has 160hp, so itīs faster but it is also a bit hungry with the fuel.

I hope to learn a lot about Subaru in this forum, so thanks in advance!

Hello Francisco,
As far as I can tell, Chile has slightly different models than the US. You may be able to check on the Subaru North America site to see the exact specs as I do not know the answer off hand. One thing I did notice however (I travel to Chile several times a year) is that the body styling is slightly different. I drive an 05 Outback and the Outbacks in Chile come with what looks to be a Xenon HID lighting setup as well as a clear tail light and a bumper with dual exhaust cutouts. Is there a place (website preferred) where you can order stock Chillean Subaru Outback parts?

Thanks,

Tommy

Welcome to another Chilean member (there are a few of us)

I am originally from Chile but live stateside (Florida). My first Subaru was when I took a sabatical and lived down there quite a few years ago. It was a Loyale turbo 5 speed. A rare car in the states. Chile has no 2.5 L turbo motor option for the Legacy. Their top Leggy is the 3.0 R (sixer). Maany of their models are euro/Japan versions so they look different and nicer IMO. Many of my cousins down there have Subaru's but they covet our engines .

Ps , unless you go black market the parts are prohibitive. I looked into the JDM tail lights and headlights.

Folks, here are the specs of the three 2.0 engines of the Legacy sold from 2004 to 2009. The new Legacy is not listed here.

2004-2005
2.0i: 137 CV/5600 RPM, 187 NM/4400 RPM.

2006-2007
2.0R: 165 CV/6800, (redline 7500) y 189 nm max torque @ 3200 rpm.

2008
2.0R: 150 CV/6000 rpms, max torque 196 Nm @ 3200 rpms

Hope it helps to recognized the different engines and models that Subaru sells worldwide.
