Rear wheel bearing failure warranty extended to 100,000 miles
Just wanted to let everyone know that Subaru has extended the warranty for Rear wheel bearings until 100,000 miles. So if your rear wheel bearing(s) fail, the dealer will replace them for FREE.
My left rear wheel bearing failed at 58,000 miles and it was replaced today for free by the dealer. Just so you know, when it fails, it starts to make incredibly loud noise up to the point where if you go above 50mph, it's unbearable. |
I thought all affected vehicles received a letter on this sometime last fall. Had my rear bearings replaced at 60,000 while the plugs were being changed.

There's a great thread about this in the Warranty Issues and Problems discussions...
Damn! Had to dig way down to page 6 to find it! ;) http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29948 The warranty extension went into effect a few months ago. Cheers! |
Also here is the actual TSB
http://www.thel7.com/TSB/03-58-08.pdf Mine just started to go and I'm relieved that I wont be paying for it :) |
I got "page not found" from that link."

I think Subaru made them take that site down. I believe the TSB number is still valid. Quote the TSB number "03-58-08" at your dealer and make them look it up.

^ the noise gets so unbearable - you can't hear your stereo
|
speed dependent whine increasing pitch and loudness as you go faster
|
I just had both of my rear and front right wheel bearings replaced. My car is so quiet now.
|
Were you hearing noise from the bearings, or was the replacement done in anticipation of future problems?
