I saw your thread, I love the guages. The rims in the first pic are the ones I'm thinking of, the double spoke. Of course I prefer the Work Emotion rims you got but that's money. I don't know why you want to paint them, the gold is sweet.

I bought a Apex'i muffler and tried to fit it today but rounded one of the nuts cos they were so badly rusted so I'm going to have to spend a few hours of my weekend trying to do the impossible. After that I want a sequential controller, then I'll leave it for a while and see what happens.

my friend have sequential controller!! it's nice part! it removes the failures to switch between turbines!car accelerates smoothly and without jerking when switching!!! you can record the sound of the muffler?) interesting to listen))do you have ICQ or mail?

So you recommend the sequential controller? I've heard good things.

Got the exhaust done, easier than I thought it was going to be. Here's a quick comparison to stock, might do a better one later if anyone's interested.

Is that the only deadening you did to the fronts?

Went to Fuji Speedway yesterday, you can do 3 laps for $20 behind (a very slow) pace-car (almost went out with the little biter in the baby seat). I was going to try for last in line so I could slow right down and blast for a bit but decided to pull in behind the AMG SLS for the exhaust note (which I couldn't hear anyway). It was good fun just to do some luke-warm laps, will start looking for a club that does track days or something.

And my unedited video... was going to cut it down but couldn't be bothered so sorry it's so boring (wind noise disappears after the first few seconds)...

Also gave her a wash when we got back...

I'm sorry, but why does this look entirely computer generated?

I'm talking about the video...

Really? If I made it in CG I would've made it look a lot faster, probably put some nice power slides in there! ;)

The video is from my phone, held on the passenger headrest with an elastic strap (the ones that hold the rear monitor on), I think it just looks unreal cos it's so slow. The vid you posted (which I assume you think looks more real) is from a hand-held camera in an R8 with a pro driver behind the wheel, I was having to brake on straight sections just to create some distance so I could carry some speed through the corners.

+1 ^ not even the same color as your car, brah

I figured you were both talking about the pic cos the colour was mentioned, which can't be seen in the vid.

Here's a short clip from the grandstand my wife took as I went past...

  • 2 weeks later...

Fitted Zerosports air filter, seems exactly the same as stock.

Will look into swapping the BH intake (long narrow wedge that draws air from between bonnet and grill/headlight) for my intake that draws air from behind the headlight which is pretty hot, especially when the thermo fan kicks in.

Mainly posting cos I saw a Bugatti EB110 today!

So sometime in the past the battery has leaked and wreaked havoc in the engine bay. I didn't realise how much until just recently, guess I should have looked closer when I inspected. Might swap this battery just in case it's this one even though it's still in good condition.

This is what it looked like under the battery.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/hansvonaxion/Legacy/batteryarea.jpg

So I cleaned it up a bit...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v291/hansvonaxion/Legacy/batteryunderbefore.jpg

And sprayed it with some rustoleum, hopefully to slow the rot...

Then I was planning on changing the terminals and putting on a DIY grounding kit but I couldn't loosen the bolt on the pos terminal and had left my 5.56 in the apartment so I just did the grounding kit and will have to do the terminals on the weekend. Might still put another ground in parallel, may start a thread unless someone can tell me the best places.

How do you like the EJ20R?

Well I've only ever driven one other Subaru so hard to compare.

I like the torque from 2,500ish-4,500ishRPM

I like the exhaust rumble and the subtle whistle from the turbo.

I don't like the hole in the torque curve from 4,500ish-6,000ishRPM.

I don't like the poor fuel consumption.

To be honest it should never have left the factory like that, or at the very least it should have been fixed in one of the early revisions. That sounds brutal but that's cos I'm being being brutally honest. For a 15 year old car it's pretty f'n awesome and there isn't much around that could match the price, performance and utility in one package.

I want to get to a track to get a real idea because in Tokyo it's hard to gauge.

  • I Donated

I love my 20R and I don't have the torque curve problems that you do because mine is pretty modified.

I'm curious to drive a stock 20R and see how it compares to mine.
