Higuma
Front page banners on the Japanese STi website is announcing the debut of the 2013 Legacy STi tS version on November 13... No specs or leaked photos other than these but it does look like it is going to be Normally aspirated ( NA ) and not the FA20 Turbo like the one coming in my car... http://www.sti.jp/index.html http://www.ktmjapan.com/Subaru/tS1.jpg http://www.ktmjapan.com/Subaru/tS2.jpg http://www.ktmjapan.com/Subaru/tS3.jpg

Higuma
My guess is it will have: STi Wheels w/ Bridgestone RE 050 ( same as GT in Japan ) STi Seats & interior ( full leather with STi stitching and carbon accents ) STi Brembo brakes STi Badging incl. shifter etc., STi Springs and strut stiffeners Limited to either 300 or 600 units only... Motor is a guess but perhaps a STi version of the non turbo 2.5l around 275ps I think that they are keeping it non-turbo so that they can offer a 6spd manual or traditional Automatic ( future turbos will be mated to special CVT ) EyeSight will be an option ( it's shown in one of the photos )
Higuma
How do you figure? Because that is what the Banner says / suggests by saying: tS x NA engine... ( normally aspirated )...

Higuma
famaya26;4145630]Wasn't this news since 2010? As you can see from here... http://www.sti.jp/e/product/previousmodel/index.html There was a 2010 model produced ( limited to 600 production units ) but not a 2011 or 2012 model... There will now be a 2013 model however...

Higuma
Ah got ya, so it's not coming to the states. The upside for those of you not in Japan has always been that the tS model releases in Japan have meant a surge in STi parts development for the current model year... Many / most of the bits you see come on the tS models will be available to the public - that can't be all bad can it ?
laufu
Thanks for posting Higuma. I assume you can read Japanese, so would you be so kind and translate all the juicy details for us on Nov 13. Also I see you have/will be getting a 2.0 GT Legacy. I hope you can give us a review of the FA 2.0 DIT and the CVT. Oh and plenty of pictures too!! Giffle
Thanks for this post Higuma. Why can't we have a nice wagon like this in N-A instead of a whole bunch of ridiculous SUV's?

Higuma
Et al... I will report the info on the tS when it is released next week - it's going to be a bit bittersweet because I have been patiently waiting for my DIT to be produced and it's getting close when they announce the tS... All in all I would lobe to have some of the more exclusive STi bits and pieces but I am not willing to sacrifice the 2.0L DIT and it looks like the tS will be a NA 2.5L... The update on my LTW is - last week went to the dealer to drop off a couple of bits for them to install when it arrives and they said that on Tuesday 10/31 the production update told them that my car's production should complete between the 10th and 20th of this month - then it has to go by boat to get here in Hokkaido after which all the dealer installed options will get installed etc., - - should be able to pick it up before Dec 1 but don't know for sure at this point... Higuma
Also I see you have/will be getting a 2.0 GT Legacy. I hope you can give us a review of the FA 2.0 DIT and the CVT. Oh and plenty of pictures too!! I test drove the 2.0 DIT twice and can tell you that it rocks... CVT is of no particular concern because in S# mode the transmission defaults to a 8 speed automatic ( they call it 8 "step" in Japanese ) which can be fully auto in D or shift as you wish in M... If you are in S "sport" mode it will CVT or use a 6 speed pattern in M with paddle shifters... On the 2nd test drive ( after ordering the car ) the staff let me drive it unaccompanied so I did a quick 0-100kmh run ~ 0-60mph ~ ( only once because the wife was severely UNimpressed ) with a iPhone as stopwatch... Unscientific but - S#mode - D - on brakes w/ revs up to 2100 and let her rip... Under those conditions it was around 5.3 seconds but I am sure that could be improved upon easy enough - - trans felt VERY solid under that load... Car pulled very hard off the line - no doubt due to the torque peak starting at 2,000 rpm and staying steady to 4800... My biggest surprise was just how much of a "grunter" this motor is - - BAGS of torque way down low in the powerband and we all know that torque is what makes a motor "QUICK" - - not HP... This was the 2nd demo car - first was black and looked real nice but I fell in love with the SWP when I saw it the first time... You can just see the bum of my Skyline, in the first picture, looking dejected because we just told her she was going to a different home.... http://www.ktmjapan.com/Subaru/DIT1.jpg http://www.ktmjapan.com/Subaru/DIT2.jpg http://www.ktmjapan.com/Subaru/DIT3.jpg
laufu
Wow thanks for the information, yet I am so jealous of you right now. Question, is the 2.0 DIT a special order in Japan or did you order the car a certain way?

LegacyWGTW05
I thought this car reminded me of the old Forester / legacy wagon. http://www.roadandtrack.com/auto-shows/tokyo/2010-subaru-exiga-2.0gt-tuned-by-sti
Higuma
I thought this car reminded me of the old Forester / legacy wagon. http://www.roadandtrack.com/auto-shows/tokyo/2010-subaru-exiga-2.0gt-tuned-by-sti The Exiga that you referenced in the link above is quite a different beast than the Legacy... It is, from all comparisons, a Forester Wagon... As I said before the "tS" STi prepared models tend to have a 3 year cycle and indeed true to that scenario the Exiga is again being offered as a tS model this year but was not offered in either 2011 or 2012 model years... Higuma
Page is UP... Limited 300 vehicle production number / order until March 12, 2013 http://www.sti.jp/product/legacyts/index.html There's a few disappointments that make me VERY VERY comfortable in my decision to stick with a 2.0 DIT GT... Least of which is the 175 hp 2.5L engine............................ Mated to a CVT............. can hear the groaning now... The cosmetic bits are quite cool, high KPH dash, wheel, seats, STi branding - exterior bits and suspension upgrades but still 2.5NA is a deal killer for me... Perscitus
http://carscoop.blogspot.com/2012/11/subaru-launches-new-limited-edition.html - some more info on the re-hashed tS (2010, now 2013). The 2013 is just a 2.5 N/A motor. I want the suspension upgrades for our cars 2.5, 2.5T and 3.6R. Sux we'll never get any of this, ever.

Higuma
I was actually quite pleased / relieved when I saw the specs - Mainly because I will be picking up my 2.0 on the 22nd and was not looking forward to having any "STi Envy"... As it turns out I wouldn't trade any of the STi bits that you can't purchase separately for my FA20 DIT motor... If the tS had be announced with the same DIT I would have been pretty pissed - but now am breathing a sigh... Ultimately the only bits that can't be sourced - economically at least - are the seats and platinum carbon trim... I can get all the suspension. bushings, stiffeners etc., by a direct parts order - wheels, badges etc., no problem... As far as suspension I already have Blitz ZZR dampers sitting here waiting for the DIT so the only suspension I may consider is the flexible draw stiffener... There is some literature out there that suggests that the 2.0 DIT GT already has better sway bars, bushings and control arm bushings than the standard GT so I'll just have to evaluate it when I receive it... From the 20GT press release : ■ Chassis The chassis was tuned exclusively for the high performance grade 2.0GT DIT. Suspension rigidity was reinforced for better stability during high speed driving. Vehicle sway was minimized due to damper tuning and enlarged stabilizer diameter, the 2.0GT DIT offers superior stability when changing lanes and cornering. My car was factory order with the flexible tower bar and STi front spoiler - and I really don't care for the side skirt spoilers or the rear roof spoiler extension - so I have no losses there either... The one item that some may not have seen is the STi stripe that is available as a separate order... bottom of this page http://www.sti.jp/product/legacyts/lineup_tw.html http://www.sti.jp/product/legacyts/imgs/lineup_equipimage01.jpg http://www.sti.jp/product/legacyts/imgs/lineup_equipimage02.jpg
zambazil
So at least you can have a diy exterior "appearance package". USDM will most likely never have these goodies.
