mass-hole
I got mine at ACE hardware. I believe they had the glossifiers there as well. AND they dont tack on $11 shipping for a $6 spray can.
brum
Jesus christ. I hate this shit. It sucks and it rubs off in a matter of weeks. Actually prep and paint so it'll stay!! /Endrant
leftcoast74
I thought this stuff was very durable. Kind of a plasti-rubber finish...yes/no?
NWSPECB
yes. It started (and still) coming in a little container that you would dip things like the handles of your tools into. The spray stuff is very durable as long as you clean well and do multiple coats.
Buzzman
The spray stuff is extremely durable; I've never had one problem with chips or loss in color. Painting doesn't always work on every surface, especially grills. Wheels, though, I would powder coat/paint.

RailKill
I met up with the owner of dipyourcar.com, Joe aka Fonzie, last night. I went to order the silver metalizer and noticed that he is located about 15 min away from where I am visiting in FL so I sent him an email asking if I could do a local pickup. He was a very nice guy and gave me some tips on how to achieve the look I am going for. I am going to experiment with a base coat of black with the silver metalizer on the wheels. I'll post some pics once I'm done.
pleweickor
Just wondering. Will the heat given off from the brakes deteriorate the PlastiDip?

maniaxzero
Just wondering. Will the heat given off from the brakes deteriorate the PlastiDip? On other forums, I've read about people plastidipping their mufflers without problems so I highly doubt the heat from the brakes would affect the plastidip on the wheels
tbperry
Just wondering. Will the heat given off from the brakes deteriorate the PlastiDip? nope. had it on my wheels for over 6 months and it still looks like new.

Yeah, when I met up with him I told him that the gunmetal he offers is just too light. I would like to do a straight up gunmetal with glossifier ovr it instead of having the metallic flake but I'm still happy with my results. VERY NICE! How many coats of black? and how many coats of metalizer? 5 coats of black, 4 coats of silver metalizer. I used one can of black for 2 wheels and 1.5 cans of metalizer. The metalizer is a lot thinner than the black so it goes quicker.

RailKill
Took about 5 hours between removing the wheels, cleaning them and painting. Thats with waiting 20 min between the black coats and about 10 min between the metalizer coats. For those of you who are planning on doing this, be sure to clean the part of the wheel that the lug nuts touch or the dip WILL peel when you torque them down. This happened when I did my passenger side on Sunday. I will have to redo them next weekend. I did my driver side today and cleaned off the part of the wheel that the lug nuts touch after every coat. Worked like a charm and NO peeling! I started using q-tips but found that a knife worked much better.

Couldn't you just tape off the lugnut holes before spraying?
RailKill
Sorry what do you mean by cleaning off? removing the dip from the lugnut holes? Couldn't you just tape off the lugnut holes before spraying? Sorry, I should have worded that better. I meant cleaning the wheels to prep them for painting. Taping the holes would be hard for fear of tearing the dip and also because I want the dip on the inner walls of the holes, just not where the lug nuts seat against the wheels. I'm actually going to be redoing the passenger side today so I will take pictures of what I'm talking about to give you a better idea.
