Chris GTO TT
Did this to my girlfriend's 05 Legacy 2.5GT Wagon today. In the past I've simply used Meguire's Plastix and their drill bit polisher, with good results. By moving to the full wet sanding restoration I feel the results are amazing. I used a combination of 3M wet sand paper (1000, 1500 and 2000 grit) and the tool free Meguire's headlight restoration kit. Basically I did 1000, 1500, 2000 and then the #4 pad from the Meguire's kit. After that I polished it extensively with Plastix on the drill bit pad. LatentWagen
Looks great, Chris. I always do our cars with just the plastic polish and a little elbow grease, but I find that on our Saabaru (05), the polish doesn't hold much longer than 6 weeks. Interested to see how well your restoration holds up, and if it shortens the interval for polishing! Again, it looks great LW's spec. Chris GTO TT
It's really the sealant that should help it last longer. I really hope it lasts through the winter. 2003 Baja 5MT 2016 Outback 2.5i Premium w/Eyesight
solidxsnake
Looks good! Lucky for you, your lenses were in decent condition when you started. I had to go all the way down to 60grit sandpaper to get out most (not even all!) of the cracking in my lenses in a reasonable amount of time. Finished them off with a couple coats of 50/50 mix of Minwax Spar Urethane and mineral spirits (a la Tomistopholes' guide).
leakypipe86
I would put install a film over it to preserve the finish. It only takes a couple months of sun and the elements to turn the lenses yellow and foggy again.
Chris GTO TT
I used a sealant meguires includes in their tool free headlight restoration kit. It claims UV protection, but we shall see how well it lasts. 2003 Baja 5MT 2016 Outback 2.5i Premium w/Eyesight

That provides a permanent solution against yellowing. I bought an auto be more involved in my uninvolvedness . 200k+ Club If you can't blind them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. Driver_X
I used the 3m kit last year (almost to the day actually) and it's held up quite well. Here are my before & after.
