SuperhawkLGT
I need to replace my lower control arm bushings and was wondering if I should replace the whole control arm, or if it's worth just doing the bushings? Also going to replace the sway bar end links and bushings. Any thing else I should do while I'm in there? Picked up some Koni's and new brakes, this is going to be an expensive little project but I should be in love with my car again once it's done. BAC5.2
Why would you replace the whole control arm? I hope you aren't going to be using stock endlinks. AZP Installs
No need to replace the arms unless they are bent. I would suggest replacing the LCA Bushings with the Whiteline LCA rear and Inner Bushings. On the endlinks the kartboys are great. Let us know if we can get you a package deal on the whole setup. ChefRacer
You don't need to replace the whole control arms at all, I just swapped my bushings about a month ago and it was a couple hours to get it done. If you are planning on doing it yourself, just make sure that you dont pull the ball joints out entirely like some of the how-to's tell you to. You only need to pull the crown nuts off of the bottom of the ball joint, it'll cut your swap time down drastically.

compsurge
Order from Mike, duh Since you're in the Northeast, prepare for a brief nightmare with those ball joints. They WILL be a PITA to get out. I believe there is a rental tool set at Advance that has various size ball joint pullers. I'd almost recommend buying new ball joints in case. Are you using a shop press?

Nice, then he should be able to get replacement ball joints in the event you need em. -mike http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpghttp://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/141039922.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://upload.pbase.com/image/137566671.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. ChefRacer
Why would you pull the ball joints though? You can leave them right where they are and just pull off the crown nut that connects the ball joint to the LCA
m sprank
Because maybe they are worn? Maybe he want to install a roll center bump steer kit? OEM ball joints are approx $30. Makes good sense to change them if working in that area already.
compsurge
You will want to change them on an 05 in the northeast. Salt and rust destroys them. The retaining bolts were half corroded on the pair I pulled off my brother's car.
DarkChief22
Similar situation here but is it any different to press out the bushing on the spec b LCA.

m sprank
Same deal, lol. On the Aluminum arms the oven is your friend. Heat it up and the old one falls out. If fast about it and the arms are good and hot, the new one can fall right through and not even hold. I have had to cool them to get the new ones in, Lol. Bosch convection oven, shhh, dont tell the wife.

ChefRacer
What you called the blolt is the front LCA bushing, and the 3rd pic is the ball joint.
