Tracer-X
I thought that I'd start an official thread for this since it appears that we will be going forward with this. Jump on it, Let's do it, Ride it, My Pony... EL4NFZT7
Tracer-X
A car that we really need to look at: http://seattle.craigslist.org/est/cto/1455563531.html It doesn't look complete but the posting says that it is. As long as we can sell parts of it off we can be okay? Maybe talk him down in price for the reason we are buying the car??? Jump on it, Let's do it, Ride it, My Pony... RyanGT
Looks like a great car for this purpose. I like that part that says the passenger floor is rusted through which will be perfect for Chumpcar b/c we ain't taking no passengers in the 14-hr enduro! I suppose we have to get a trailer to bring the car down to PDX, won't we? . . I have enough drama for now.....

NSFW
I approve this car. These things are cool. How many other people are willing to split the cost? Tracer, can we keep it at your place long enough to get the engine into it and at least make it drivable again? I think we should try to get it street-legal for the drive to PDX... if it won't survive that drive, it won't survive the race. We could strip the lights and stuff to add lightness at the track... Might need to arrange for a truck/trailer to bring it back though just in case. I think the shell should at least get a coat of primer before the engine goes back in. I vote for splotches of black / white / grey, winter-camouflage-style.
Tracer-X
The only thing about that car is that it would need to be below $500 in value after we sell off parts. I am not sure if there is anything on this car that we could sell off to get it to that point though. Can some one go look at it? Jump on it, Let's do it, Ride it, My Pony... Aodhan
I have been invovled in one of these in the past. Just make sure the bill of sale reads $500. Also keep in mind that with most events like this once the race is over if someone offers you $1500 for the car you are required to sell it, this is even if you dont screw up. You apparently haven't read the rules close enough. They aren't as harsh as "Lemons" They are also more level headed then "Lemons". They add penalty laps. If they claim you car they pay YOU $1,500. Then they auction the car for a starting bid of $1,750. You can buy your car back for essentially $250 (+ the $1,500 they paid you). Also, they don't do any of this until AFTER the race is over. LuckyBob
I approve this car. These things are cool. How many other people are willing to split the cost?[...] Agreed. As an FYI Chumpcar has rules stipulating the minimum and maximum amount of time a driver can be in the car during a race. Based on our time to spare at Alfy's this weekend it seems like around 7-10 people is the ideal size.
LegGTLT
I still think a cheap-o running car is better. Simple bill of sale and no "deductions" or playing with reciepts to show how we got it down to $500. Please PM joeleodee For All Site Questions. RyanGT
Public auction has a couple of pedo-vans! Nice! I like the 84 wagon off craiglist -- it has "some light body dents". If we find one of the early 80's coupes they had small-block V8's...I almost got one when I was 17 but wanted a manual instead (hence the flaming Escort mentioned earlier). Tommyh
Really did anyone question if I would be down for this or not? I'm so very in. If needed I can possibly keep the car at my place for a period of time...after I empty out the garage/shop more... We'll talk about what will/would/could happen while I'm deployed... No, quite honestly we were hoping you wouldn't get involved. We know what you're capable of and after a quick vote we determined (6 to 3) that you can take your shoddy government work to another team. Get lost, hoser...we got enough chump in here already! NSFW
From http://forum.chumpcar.com/index.php?/topic/255-contrary-to-opinions/ A bone stock 1.8L Subaru Impreza with 300k miles (I know this for a fact) whos fasted time was 13 seconds slower than the fastest car (and slower than most everyone on track) got fourth. I rather like the idea of driving an AWD car. I'm just sayin'. Here's a question though - where are we going to test-drive the chump car? I don't mean for tuning, I mean for just proving (to ourselves) that it can actually drive for several hours without falling apart beyond repair. Can we keep it street-legal? I am guessing that we can, but I'm only guessing.
