The Official: Sunglasses thread

I've had the same pair of Arnettes (cat eyes) for years. Recently I lost them and I felt like I lost my best friend :(

I went shopping for new glasses and decided to buy 2 sets.

1 for Mountain Biking/hiking/outdoor stuff

1 for casual wear

I've never owned a pair of polarized glasses so they were top on my list to buy.

For recreational use I went with the Oakley Half Jackets XLJ.

I plan on buying the clear lenses and the illuminating lenses

For casual use I bought the Ray Ban RB 3269's

(I bought them from an authorized dealer with warranty, not this place)

I hadn't looked that closely, that's funny. :cool::lol:

They are nice glasses though, I've never liked sunglasses on me before, but these look great.

I paid way too much if that link is any indication. Most of it was gift money though, and driving east in the AM and west in the PM has made them well worth it anyways.

I've gone through so many pairs of sunglasses over the last 25 years that now I only buy the less expensive brands due to damage and loss. I have a pair in each vehicle and both golf bags. Plus a pair dedicated to running and an old pair of sunclouds for working in the yard. This is the latest pair I've purchased for Golf. I have a polarized pair for running by the same brand. Not bad for $55 bucks.

I paid almost $50 more. I got a warranty and if I break them I can get a second pair for 1/2 off :)

to me that is worth $50

I've had more Oakley's dating back to the 80's than I can remember. Factory Pilots anyone? Yeah, I had them in White. I was the coolest 12 year old ev4r.

I stopped buying Oakley for my athletic shades and now stick with Spy.

As for dressy, poarized shades, I have some Revo's that are absolutely kick ass. They have a rose-tinted lens.

For something in the middle betwen sport and style, I have a set of Maui Jim polarized shades. Very Matrix-looking with metallic black lenses.

But my fave pair is still a set of Oakley Razor Blades from the early 90's. i still have interchangeable nose pieces and arm colours... plus purple and orange iridium lenses. I could probably sell 'em for a mint on eBay!:lol:
