Your experience with Flat foot shifting

Recommended Posts

So i was messing with my AP after installing my DP and updating to stage 2. and i saw Flat foot shift...I know i sound newbish but any how i went ahead and set it at 5500rpm and used it maybe twice and was surprised by how it held boost while i shift throughout gears.

I had a friend of mine tell me it was super bad for my tranny, though i trust him on what he said since he has a wrx i am taking caution on how much i use it.

Now i am on here asking my dear LGT members to see if any of you have used it at all and any advise as to how much i should use it or not use it at all :)

If your revs are higher then the gearing intends this is call 'power shifting' it wears clutch and jars tranny/diffs.

You should set your flat foot setting at the rev the next gear will be at.

So for example when shifting at red from 2nd to 3rd, your revs go from 6500 to 4100 you want your flat foot rev to be set at 4100. Basically you're using flat foot to hold boost not to jar the system.

That makes sense! i get it now. I def do not want to be replacing a tranny unless its a 6speed lol:)

Just build in an ignition cut when the stick is in neutral and the throttle is floored.

That way you will solve the rev problem. Add a sequential gearbox too: http://eng.kaps-transmissions.com/products-si-full-sequential-gearbox.html
