brucath
Can an old tired water pump on a 95 Legacy Brighton Wagon (195K) fix itself? I had removed the radiator and the car sat a few days before I installed the new one. After loading it up with new coolant the water pump was squealing and leaking a bit. After running it a couple of hours the sound AND the leak both stopped!! Should I assume all is well or that the pump is indeed on it's last legs? I don't drive the car a lot...I do want to keep it though...but the water pump on these suckers seems like a much bigger job than I care to take on. The timing belt is only 12 K old and doesn't need to be replaced. Any thoughts? Thanks...brucath
AWDxBOOST
hmmm....id say replace it. im guessing the car was at normal operating temp? is the belt doing anything weird? it may be seized, but im not sure if on subarus the belt would be doing anything weird...on some cars the belt will judder around and probably mess up the tensioner never heard of a healing car, but if yours does then thats badass! mwiener2
could've just been gunk that moved around when you were working on the radiator...then the pump at it made noises....then the gunk moved on or something My Mods List (Updated 8/22/17) 2005 Outback FMT Running on Electrons
