my buddy has this kit on his 09 wrx, no complaints, and he's pretty critical.

chutrain 03-29-2012 07:16 AM

It does fit with the foglights. You have to turn the pipe and trim a little of the coupler. Instructions are on their website. This is the mold a few of the knock off companies are using, so there are a numerous writeups on how to install.

I think the fit other than the trimming of the bumper was great. Much better than me trying to wrestle the RacerX. Quality of the kit overall was excellent. Currently working with Shamar for the tune.

I felt that the quality of the kit is great. It's nice that they give you piping for an LGT style turbo and intake manifold, or an STI style turbo and intake manifold. I haven't heard of any other LGT fmics that can function with an STI style intake mani. Here are a couple of pics. I forgot to get a pic of the finished product b/c it was getting too late, we spent about 2 1/2 hrs trying to get the piping around the fog lights and I really don't see how it's even possible.

We had to reroute the piping on the drivers side after this picture, but we didn't realize this until we started to put everything back together because the directions weren't clear at all.
It got dark after that point so I didn't have any further pics. I'll get some pics of the finished product tommorow.

One thing to keep in mind, is that this is not a kit designed for the LGT. It's the 08+ WRX kit, sold for the LGT.

I'll be doing my install at some point eventually, so I'll try and improve the instructions for an LGT/OBXT install.

The comment on IP&T's site about some 05-07's being able to keep the fogs is right on. I've seen the install on an one that kept the lights, and yours didn't.

Probably sometime mid-april. Whenever my turbo is definitely on the way is when I'll do all the stage-3 preppings.

I thought you were staying top mount. Or am I thinking of someone else?

ChefRacer 03-29-2012 08:06 PM

I still need to extend my fuel lines to give them a bit more slack and get a Grimmspeed EBCS to get a bit more boost out of it. Right now I've got a VF40 with a 3" DP, 3" mid and Y with stock mufflers an HKS intake and of course the Turboxs fmic. I'm maxing out at 17 psi at the manifold. I'm hoping after the ebcs to get 19-20.

bmx045 03-29-2012 08:11 PM

Remove the 10mm bolt holding the fuel rails to the manifold and carefully bend them up a little. Carefully. Had to do this with my racerx too.

ChefRacer 03-29-2012 10:03 PM

I did do that already, I just want to be on the safe side so I'm going to replace the factory clips with regular hose clamps in favor of having longer fuel lines there.

ChefRacer 03-29-2012 10:07 PM

I couldn't wait till the morning so here are some current pics. I am going to clean the engine bay and the rest of the car tommorow, just didn't have any time or energy today.

The stock fuel lines will be fine. I put a strip of foam weather stripping on the top and bottom of the pipe to provide some cushioning and rub protection. Did you get the foglight to work?

bmx045 03-30-2012 07:21 AM

It was tight with my racerx, I'm pretty sure these pipes are bigger, my lines would rub the hood liner....

ChefRacer 03-30-2012 08:40 AM

Couldn't get the fog lights to come remotely close to fitting, I would have to cut a chunk out of the frame of the car to get the IC piping high enough to clear them

chutrain 03-30-2012 09:34 AM

You need to trim the coupler on the IC side and a little trimming on the corner of the
foglight housing. Can not see once the foglight cover is put back on. You just need to push
slightly on the piping to clear when putting the bumper back on.

The TXS piping clears the hood liner. I was worried originally as initial test fit was a little high,
but some massaging of the fitment made everything fit nicely. A shame I can't use my JDM
engine bay covers now.

chutrain 03-30-2012 09:52 AM

Some install pics for anyone that has question on how to route the piping near the
foglight. This is for a FMS kit, which is a copy of the TXS.

Here are pics of mine with a satin black thermal dispersant paint used on radiators.
Excuse the camera phone and dirty car.

Be carefull extending those fuel lines. I recomend CAREFULLY cutting the crimps for the hoses right at the fittings for the rail, removing the OE hoses and use good quality EFI hoses and clamps.

Looks good though!

Windy Road 03-31-2012 08:26 PM

Need photos on a 08-09 stat lol. Debaiting on staying TMIC or switching over to a FMIC once I start going back to stage 2.
