96 GT Rebuild - Build Log

Recommended Posts

I hope this is in the right forum...but here goes.

As I stated in my I intro thread, I'm taking Kenny's 96GT off his hands to rebuild. The current parts list is as follows:

Grill

Radiator support

L front bumper support

L front bumper

Front fenders

Radiator fans

LH radiator fan plug

Ground wires for alternator

Trams fluid radiator hose

Power steering rack

Front axel

Rear view mirror

2.2/2.5 motor

Potential center diff

Future mods include:

UEL headers

Custom exhaust

Borla/Virbrant/Apexi muffler

5 M/T w/ stage 2 clutch in the future

Performance brake kit

Projector headlights w/ HID's

So far...that's what I have on the to fix and to mod list. Running out to grab parts off of a parts car to start fixing it and fixing Kenny's car. Lets hope All things go according to plan. :)

How much did Kenny have to pay you to take the GT off his hands? :p

Pretty much what he stated above. That and 1500 bucks worth in payments whenever we start putting parts together on it. To me, it's not that much seeing as how I've wanted to take it from him a LONG time ago. :p

  • 4 months later...

Okay guys, long time no speak. I know I'm reviving what everyone thinks is a dead thread, but over the course of the next couple of months and throughout the rest of the year, things are finally going to get moving and stay moving. So far we have:

Signed a lease on a 10x20 storage unit

Removed all of Kenny's crap and spare parts out of the car

Moved them into a storage unit

Begun the hunt for a motor

I'll grab some pictures this evening of the shed and all the stuff we have current when I make a run to the shed to drop off some more stuff. I'll also get some pictures Wednesday of the car in it's current condition.

This is the car as it sat a year ago. I've since pulled the motor and swapped some snowflakes on it.

And here's how it looks as it sits right now. It's going to be hauled to the shed on Wednesday and then the tear down will begin!

Picked up a set of fenders, front bumper foam impact absorber, 97 GT fog lights, some bolts and a hose for $100 last wednesday. Still haven't gotten a motor yet, but hopefully we can find something soon.

how about you give me a set of skirts and a lip for a wagon and ill give you my 22e to rebuild, dual port heads too ;)

Well, I can see about those side skirts that I found last week... I bent them though. They could probably be painted and turn out fine. But, who wants to mess with all that crap lol

Bigger problem, we are on opposite ends of the country. Shipping will be a task.

Towed it out to it's new temporary home in the garage!

We still don't have a motor, but we'll be getting everything else taken care of on the car as we finalize our search.

If anyone comes across any EJ22 or EJ25 short blocks let me know!

Motor has arrived, will be putting her together tomorrow. Might crack off the heads and replace the gaskets with thinner ones and get the cams reground...maybe...

Pics of her MOSTLY back together will be posted tomorrow.
