How much did you pay for your 100,000 mile tune up?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone I took my car in yesterday to get a wheel bearing installed. While I was there I asked them to price out the 100,000 mile tune up (timing belt, plugs, etc.) They said the total was 1200 bucks for the full service which seems high but Im not sure since it's my first Subaru. Any info would be helpful thanks!

I am still waiting to hear from the dealer on the wheel bearing. I have a warranty on the car that covers it. I would guess out of pocket it would be about 20-300. The wheel hum assembly is 60-100 dollars depending on the manufacturer. 1 hour of install time= 80 bucks plus the diagnostic time. I would do it myself but I have the warranty.

Read the wheel bearing threads on here, to learn what to look for or feel.

Go to a local repair shop to get a estimate on the timing belt. Having done mine, there isa lot of labor and the kit is like $330 plus fluids, and shop charges.

305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD).  CHECK your oil, these cars use it.

Thanks I think the noise could have something to with the cold weather is didn't hear it until it was below freezing. I read all of the wheel bearing threads and wasn't really to worried since my warranty covers it. I was wondering how much the tune up would be because I thought 1200 was way to much they said 3 hours to change the plugs!

the dealer should use OEM parts no?

and I paid $500 for everything on my 90/105k maintenance.

What was included?

Depending on what is included, what fluids are used, etc it COULD be as high as 1200, but doubtful.

Check under the maintenance section on our webpage to see the pricing and what we install during the various services.

Yes? The parts alone are nearly 5 bills if you do it right. New belts, pulleys, tensioners, WP & fluid. Not a huge savings between OEM or Gates kit.

$500 would be one hell of a deal, but not one you'll find here in CA. Best I've see in my area is $975

I just got my 105k mile service done and here are the costs since I bought all the supplies.

  • $310 shipped-Gates timing belt kit with waterpump from fredbeansparts (I PM'd him on nasioc since he is a vendor and he gave a 50$ discount from what you see on the website)

  • $360 for Labor cost from local tuner shop (4hrs). Keep in mind that I did not do the cam seals so that would have added to the cost , probably another 80$.

  • 85$ for oem thermostat, coolant, and oil

Grand total = $755.00

I was also quoted $1200 to get it done at EFI Logics but that seemed steep.

That's what we charge $725 with all the parts you listed.

Hey mammy. Ive done the spark plugs before on my 2005 legacy gt and was done within an hour. Having to take out battery and filter box and you're ready to roll. The job is too easy to pay someone to do it. Back coils just need to be turned about 180 to get out. I feel sorry for some of you guys paying that much for a tuneup but yet again it is Cali. My 105000 service with tensioner was not over 400 with taxes.

  • 2 weeks later...

I was just about to post the same question, only difference is that mine is about the 60000mile(96000 km) service package.

I'm up in Vancouver, Canada and I got quoted around 8-900 plus taxes... This seemed kinda steep to be but basically had nothing to compare it too.

Apparently it's a pretty extensive service...in the past I haven't been too proactive with maintenance, but I also drove older fix what's broken kinda cars.

Will I notice a difference with any of this service? That's always the make or break for me with spending money, I wanna see what my money has done, right?

You won't notice a difference per say off the bat, however a properly maintained Subaru will provide you with many years of good service. Worth it to get it done right.
