  1. replacing the tube seals that leak a bit into the plugs... and new valve cover gaskets @ 187500 miles.
  2. I have the BlueSkySea B1W mini cams, I paid $50 for them off eBay.. here's a video from it
  3. Was searching for the thread with the valve cover gasket and tube seal kit... but didn't find that.. so ordered them individually... $46 shipped for the 2013 2.5i. Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total 10966AA041 Spark Plug Tube Seal $2.44 4 $9.76 13270AA29A Valve Cover Gasket $13.42 1 $13.42 13272AA24A Valve Cover Gasket $13.42 1 $13.42Will give me something to do when they show up and resolve the oil in spark plug tubes problem. I'm sure my meat hooks will enjoy the cramped working condition again.
  4. Just put in new NGK spark plugs... easier than what I'd been led to believe. Remove air box, remove battery..good access to get in. Was attacked by my toolbox.. maybe I should have closed that drawer. Worst part of the process. Be careful out there.
  5. Just as my final update...I got a thinner washer (not copper) at the hardware store and the reverse lights working fine. It's about 1/4 the thickness of the copper one that came with the new switch. Was concerned maybe about leaking fluid..but no drips in 2 weeks.
  6. Replacing them isn't very difficult... Remove the intake, unhook the connector and fish the wiring back, then use a 19mm crow-foot with ratchet to loosen then can unscrew by hand. (I took out the Neutral switch with a wrench and that sucked...get the crow-foot) Attached the pics, this is on the drivers side of the manual transmission... the cables are a bit in the way, but they moved out of the way enough. I haven't done the thinner washer ... yet, but it only took about 30 minutes from start to finish.
  7. Found this thread about it over at the Outback forum.. looks like filing the washer down isn't a bad plan. https://www.subaruoutback.org/threads/2009-outback-5mt-neutral-safety-switch-keeps-dying.512319/
  8. well, I put in the new switch... it's better, but not solved. I think it just needs a thinner washer. So eventually this week I'll get to the local Ace to get one and see if that solves it. Now at least, if I push the stick hard to the passenger side the reverse light comes on.
  9. Ordered the part that is hopefully correct... Back Up Lamp Switch Ill take a few pics when I get the new switch and replace it...
  10. I think the reverse switch on my 2013 6MT decided to call it quits...no backup lit and no R in the display. the 1-6 still appear. Looks like there's two similar switches on the drivers side of the manual trans box... ones nearer the rear than the other. I haven't figured out which one specifically is the reverse switch, though believe the part number is 32005 or 320008 . Anyone have to replace this in a 2013 yet? Looks to have been a common thing to do in some years.... Found this attached diagram, thanks for any pointers.
  11. A magical 361 days after getting to 150k. 175,000 with a Rainbow..
  12. Finally got around to putting on my new plastic splash shield and replaced all the broken clips... no more odd whistling sounds on the freeway.. also re-ran the wire for the USB phone charger & radar detector remote...didn't realize before there was a spot covered with essentially foil tape that I just poked through just behind the hazard switch mount.... then there's is I guess a "missing light" my basic 2013 Legacy that the other end of the usb goes through in the back of the cubbie above it. maybe someday Ill install the RCE Tarmac Zero coilovers I bought like 3 years ago..
  13. finally finished the brake job I started last summer... rear brakes complete Now I'm out of sequence in brakes. 3rd set of pads, 2nd set of rotors, 170k miles. Now I can plan on a day to do the RCE tarmac zero coilover install since they didn't sell
  14. i tried that with same hope.. it's different, thats why looking to how to do it without destroying the cover. it seems it's glued down
  15. i got a new un-scratched glove box from the salvage yard... anyone know how to swap the latch / lock??
