  1. I used a dynamat like material from HomeDept that is used on windows to seal them from water intrusion. Worked great and WAY cheaper. It has a metallic side and a butyl tape side. Dont know if this stuff would stick under the hood though as that gets so hot. All of my doors stopped opening from an internal design flaw that I fixed and did this sound deadening at the same time. http://protectowrap.com/flashings-building-tape/super-stick-building/
  2. Sounds like a good start. I have a stock turbo installed but a BNR 16G sitting till this spring to install as well. My reason for the new turbo is an oil leak that will be cured with MOR PWR! The extra ground clearance is really handy. Have thrown quite a few Cyl 4 misfires codes over the last year+ but only when idling 30+ seconds. Just got a COBB with the recommended tune and same code showing but I can monitor that #4 and the "roughness" and when driving. When idling, it is rough but once underway, no prob and no roughness numbers on the COBB. She drives just fine but the idle is the problem. Just keep it revved @ 2k I guess..... That will solve it.
  3. I have no idea but if you got both rigs, the experimentation is in your driveway. The RCE look like a good track setup but not likely for myself. But the experiment would help others looking for options on the older LGTs. I think I will get the Kings as they are close by and much better than my old stockers. She is getting bouncy from the shocks. This last storm makes me think a 0.5 inch spacer might be in order tho.
  4. cruised this and other info for a long time but a new search from your suggestion turned up Primitive Racing near Portland Oregon. Primitive seems to specialize in offroading. They have King Springs from down under for the LGT -King 1.1" Rear Lowering Springs KING-KSRL-29 & King 1" Front Lowering Springs - KING-KSFL-42. for $325. They state the fronts are progressive rate. http://get-primitive.com/springs/517-king-lowering-springs-2005-2009-legacy-gt-wagon.html King apparently uses a "new" metal that is strogk and lighter (30%) but still deliver the goods. Also have a specific wagon option for the GT which is bang. https://kingsprings.com.au/
  5. having a great car and aftermarket parts are getting scarce or non-existant. I wonder how different eiback WRX/STI springs really are from LGT that can still be bought 10 years later. Is it just the strut seat or what. Wagons add 200 pounds and most springs are for sedans also. To see a comparison side-by-side we might find they are near enough to not matter for install or easily overcome. I know STI later years went well away from the same setup but the early years I dont know. H&R springs are about the only game in town and reviews are so mixed. I dopnt want harsh but a bit stiffer is good and reducing squat/dive would be great.
  6. Just found that Koni's website has the cheapest prices - $139. fronts and $122 for rears and free shipping & no tax (other than California) from all the websites I've been checking. https://konimarket.com/collections/subaru/2005+legacy+sport-yellow+2005+legacy
  7. Lazarus thread! Goal: Somewhat stiffer ride (for Wagon NOT sedan) but not harsh. This is not a track rig but a DD and some dirt roads about so I plan on using spacers to reduce the ride drop to about .5 inch drop. This should reduce roll and squat as well as a nice bonus. The remaining options seems to mostly say ride is quite a bit harsher or too low. The too low can be taken care of with a spacer (within limits). Springs H&R Sport - $250. seems to infer better performance due to reduced ride height. No wagon specific springs and mention it will sag with a wagon. Wonder about the life of a compromised spring rate. Couple of bad reviews with Koni’s but this is the most recommended option. Swift - $360. Makes a specific wagon version but also heard quite stiff and very aggressive lowering. Tein S. Tech - $190. this is the more aggressive (and progressive rate) spring. H Tech doesn’t show up as an option and S. Techs have a less than savory reputation. STi Pinks are mentioned but cant seem to find for sale other than used or salvage. Shocks. Seems to come down to Koni (best recommended), Bilsteins (very best but quite expensive), and KYB. Lots of advice but our options are becoming quite limited. The early STI's still have a lot more options for suspension upgrades twhich I read the Legacy GT mostly shares but I don’t know for a fact. If the above is true, what would be required to swap STI springs/shocks into a 05 Legacy?
  8. Glad you all are still running this thread. Need to get off this stock tune and get better than 23-25mpg. And then a new turbo and block. Cheers.
  9. I am totally interested in this MPG research on these cars. Too bad Subaru didn't.....GJ and thanks. Do you all use a COBB for this? I guess I will have to invest in some ECU burning equip..... I have just found out that my 05 LGT has likely burnt valves or maybe rings. I had a 20% lean injector....They are taking it apart this week. $2-5000 depending upon work needed. I always track my MPG via http://www.fueleconomy.gov and have about 22 overall. About what a 2012 Suburban can get....sad face.
  10. Car is in great shape but pulled a weird code that doesn't exist. 567. Checked three times and same sequence. 567 and then back to repeat. Other codes were normal and come up when its hot, in slow traffic, and using air conditioning. 21 and 23.
  11. She's not the fastest but she looks pretty good. Getting rough when I rev her to 6000 but still does fine. 1 trannie swap and that's it. Crappy light blue color but otherwise best $3200. I ever spent.
  12. This site really taught me a lot about what works and what doesn't backed up by previous posts in this thread. http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi I'm still pulling panels to get access for the application.
