  1. ^ LOL i thought the same. =P Not saying its impossible, I got my entire 400xt setup off here brand new including fairing for 235 shipped. So its possible, just rare. Though its long gone now. New car I'm buying Whispbar crossbars, the cross bars alone are 300!!!!! Talk to me about expensive.
  2. ^ orsracksdirect is a great retailer, with discount codes you can find. They almost already discount whispbars by 10 percent off retail.
  3. thanks for the info. I will very much consider this rack setup as my thule was sold over the summer. I am back in the need of a rack setup. I might not even have to worry as my car is up in June, so new car might have rack all thought out for me.
  4. my thule setup was built very well which is why i purchased it over the yakima. Both are excellent systems. I found the thule was audible with my moonroof cover open, but once closed i can barely notice. Hows your mpg's with this one? I doubt there will be too much improvement over the losses in the other systems, as it is still resistance, but this one just looks better.
  5. ^ that looks really really good. a lot lower than my Thule setup was, much more streamlined.
  6. ^ nice spec b and nice rack! I previously had a thule rack system. sold it due to lack of use and hurting my gas mileage. but I loved the look. =P
  7. ^ pics!? After using my Thule for over a year, I am curious to know how the new ones look and how much noise if any they make. My Thule as long as I closed my moonroof cover, I could barely hear it.
  8. I had to look twice. Then saw ur in Canada. Jealous. I wanted an 08+ wagon. Argh! US needs to step up.
  9. I just took my rack off my car today. =[ With little or no time to ride, and no need for it, saving gas is higher priority. And I'm putting another 1000 miles on the car this weekend, so I guess getting the extra 2 mpg and the ride being a lil quieter helps. The rack has been on the car since April, and this time left some marks on the roof. Time to wax the contact points when I get home. =P
  10. You should expect 250 without shipping for a base rack kit, 25 for locking cores if needed, and close to 70 for a used bike tray setup. I'd estimate around 350. I'm using a Thule base rack setup. 38" fairing, though I prefer the 44 if I can get a trade sometime, and a Yakima Anklebiter deuce bike tray. Yes you can mix and match, with proper adaptors. Those are pretty cheap. I'd say best bet is buy a full kit on craigslist, and just swap the fit kits(60$). I've seen proper full kits go on craigslist for 150 dollars. Specs you need: Thule: 50 Inch load bars (Model LB50) 38 or 44 inch fairing, both work fine. 400xt feet. theres, also a newer more expensive aero feet, which work with the aluminum aero bars. Fit kit: 2155 for 400xt, not sure for the aero Yakima: 48 inch load bars 38 or 44 inch fairing, both work fine. yakima q towers fit kit: Q78 i believe. i gotta check. i did plenty of research before I found mine. I originally wanted a Yakima kit, but found a Thule one first, and I love it.
  11. 46? you mean 44. When i said shorter, I only mean that cuz its shorter than the width of my bars. Meaning I don't even hear any noise with it being that short. I am actually trying to sell my 38 locally so I can up it to a 44. =]
  12. ^ those things are all searchable btw. There are tons of threads on roof rack issues had by people. Pinter, the clips clip onto the rubber weather seal. I'm not sure what you mean by into the windows like normal? Tagley, roof rack noise is very iffy. Anything can cause it to the rack being place on wrong to a simple thing sticking out. I've had my rack for a season and wind noise for me is very minimal. With the sunroof cover closed and a shorter 38" fairing, I've had almost zero noise. As for mileage, I drive a 2.5i, and my mileage dropped from normal 19/20 city to 16/17 city and 26 all highway to about 24. So a solid drop of 2 mpg I can estimate.
  13. Its crazy seeing that engine compartment, and not seeing the subaru boxer in there. =[ Never would have expected such quick progress. Awesome work!
  14. check if there is anything blocking. That little stopper fell out of place once. The one that stops the sunroof cover from closing too far. I found that in the track at the end oddly. That may have fell out and slipped into your track. If you've checked the track already for any obstructions, then iunno. =[
