  1. Just came in today... here's a pic. gonna fill them in with windshield urethane adhesive tomorrow and get them installed and see if that makes a difference. My stock ones lasted 130000kms lowered 1" under normal driving conditions.
  2. Golf - in for pics too Taking your time is always better. I did mine pretty quick and broke a couple of things and swapped things I shouldn't have so I may just get another set of lights and do it slow and perfect the second time. I have my legacy lens holders which I am going to swap the RX330s back in as I think the focus may be slightly off giving me an inconsistent light throw directly in front of the car. I think I can imagine the shield that you made. Do you not think the light that would have been bleeding out may get reflected back in at a wrong angle and maybe aim somewhere not in the intended beam? Can anyone clarify what the inside of the ASF lens holder looks like, if it has reflective patterns on the inside or not? Did widening the light opening make the beam pattern wider? I would think you were at the mercy of the throw that the lens size/shape dictates but I could be wrong (not an optic guy). I was thinking of maybe using some reflective thermal tape or aluminum flashing that's reflective on the inside of the shield to maybe bounce brighter light back into the bowl to see if that helps since there seems to be a concern with wasted/stray light. http://www.competitionproducts.com/prodinfo.asp?number=340210 If I try your method, i'll do each item separate and see the effect each change makes
  3. If you are going to reuse your DDM kit, you need amp to D2S adapters: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/D2S-D2R-HID-BULB-ADAPTERS-AFTERMARKET-OEM-BALLASTS-AMP_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ36476QQihZ019QQitemZ290267385451QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW If you use OEM ballasts then you won't need them. I am not sure if the L and Right bowls are the same or not.

  7. I was checking to see how bad my cabin filter was and found out there wasn't one inside in my 05 GT. I guess we (Canadians) don't get one to start off with but the service intervals tell me to change it so I assumed it was in there. Oh well, I managed to loosen things off the glove compartment and not take apart the center console. I can slide out the tray enough to slide a filter cut to size. I bought a furnace filter (20"x20"x1") with a charcoal layer for $20 so that means $5 a filter instead of $60 (probably what they charge here in Canada). Maybe this is why I can smell wiper fluid and catless exhaust smells so easily.

  9. look at some of the pictures in the for sale threads, you'll see how some power up their ballasts. I used the PSU method, another guy used his 14.4V battery.
  10. My brother and I were driving around on the backroads, he had an Apexcone kit and I had my retro. His words were, "How can I make these spread as much light as yours? The sides don't light up as bright as yours" It was true, when I was driving behind him, the trees to the side were lit up brighter by my lights than his. From what a wall to wall comparison brought out, my lights seemed more even with light from left to right. His lights were more concentrated in the center. I won't talk cutoff or colour mod because you can do that with any kit to sharpen it and maybe get more colour. I think his wife wants a swap now too after seeing the differences. She is happy with the output from the kit though. We went with a 4500K kit.
  11. I also blacked out the headlights with a plastic texture paint which almost matched the OEM paint.
  12. Just joined the club... RX330 non-asf bowls, Legacy shields and mounts, celica lenses. I did a lot of colour modding and couldn't get one projector as sharp as the other. I ended up just balancing the amount of colour. I added the RPM angel eyes i bought over a year ago and liquid elec. taped all the connections. I broke off the squirel finders and high-temp epoxied them over the holes. Still daylight, I only have pics of the lamps inside but will take pictures tonight as I need to align them as per Garrett's instructions. Thanks to VXCL for initial support a while back and Garrett for the instructions and part list.
  13. any word on part numbers for the '07 specB seat covers?
  14. ^Did the celica lenses just drop in or did you need to make a gasket of some kind? Where did you get the lenses?
