  1. I've been looking pretty hard at the 2018+ Golf R, as we finally got the Facelift this year. Drove one while working in Germany last year and they are very tidy. Very expensive over there as well. Fully decked out I think the list was almost 60K Euro. Here in Canada, 42K. Still pricy for a Golf, but most mid range cars up here seem to be getting up to the mid 30's anyway. Not sure I'd sell the Legacy wagon anytime soon, at the very worst I'll keep it as a winter car :-)
  2. Oh man I love that sound. I bet it sings at high RPM!
  3. Nice build! This is interesting when you mention The VF46. With the Accessport TA map I get a 1.99s 60 foot. But she dies out pretty quick in the later gears at high RPM. I need to figure out why it auto shifts from 2nd to third at 4500 RPM when I'm in Manual mode. With my open source tune that's not an issue:-) Soon to be VF52 with a EL header:)
  4. Can you get a stock airbox pretty readily? If so give that a try. You can't datalog the *existing* ROM with the AP without marrying it and in turn having to choose a map. And as you say it pulls hard without the AP, so it's possible it was tuned through Open Source. So really you have no idea if it's running crazy lean with the original ROM or not....so I'd get the equipment to log that ROM, or just throw in a OEM airbox and see how the OTS Stages do.
  5. I'm all over the map on what I want for summer wheels. I really like the STI multi spoke on Japanparts, so I guess the equivalent is the Rota Gravel? There are a couple other nice Rota wheels as well. Also a few nice ENKEI. I'm not entirely sure how black would look on our cars, but a Hyper Black or a grey shade should look nice! The Canadian market is small as it is, so there can't be too many LGT Turbo wagons in this colour. Mind you my neighbour across the street has an 08 Non turbo wagon in our colour. For whatever reason it look a tad lighter...but mine had a slight re spray and clear after a new bumper was installed so who knows;)
  6. Bone stock looking, with only a Cobb DP. pic was from 2009 (I think). I'm such an idiot for selling it. Funny to think I could not get more than 25K for it in 2011 when our CAD was at par with the USD (the excuse was all the imports coming in)....well NOW look at the prices of SpecB's and period STI's in Canada! It would very high mileage now though.... sigh.... SO Vex is the go-to now? Good to know, as I might be relocating back that way next year....
  7. you'd think with the increasing amount of 5EATs's to 5MTs post 07-today, one would think valve body upgrades would be viable, more viable to the few 05-06 5EAT's out there. That being said, mine has quick, firm shifts after a Tune. Even in standard form they are nice and quick and don't hang. Not sure how they are on older models? I have no idea if that has anything to do with line pressures, tunes or....
  8. 2008 DGM LGT, 5EAT, 95K km. Stage 2+, JDM Bilsteins/STI Pink springs... and goes like stink:-) Looking for some cosmetic upgrades in the Spring, namely wheels and changing that terrible cherry wood interior trim. Currently I have snows on the '07 SpecB rims. Hmmm I wonder how many of these sold in this model year? 8-)
  9. Just finished going through this thread and I wondered if this was my old SpecB. Moved from Calgary in 2011, sold to a guy in Coquitlam (25K in cold hard cash--I shit you not!), with what I remember being about 125K km. What a car, miss it and I wish I didn't sell:-) It was stage 2 at the time though.... THAT being said, stage 2 was OK in Calgary at altitude, but I use to get a fair amount of light feedback, and that's when they had E10 94. But that can be pretty common anyway at low RPM or at tip-in. Anyway, Cryo seems to be a good bet as they tune at altitude so they'll know what's up. With my Wagon now I'm trying out Tuning Alliance this week :-D Good luck! PS if Airboy Tuning is still around in Calgary, he's a great bet too
  10. Thanks for that! I'll probably take a pass on the wheels as the price reflects basically brand new tires. What mufflers do you have on that? They look like they sit perfect!
  11. A mint set of Enkei RPF1 17x9 et 45 with 255/40 tires. A month of use apparently, and local to me. Time to get the measuring tape out! But I really think they will just be too wide and touch the strut
  12. Nice. I was looking at the K2 gear mid pipe a while back but got confused on the fitment on our cars. any modifications required? I think the JDM DP is a different length.
  13. So nice! Are those STI cans? I' picked up a set localish, virtually brand new. I'm really happy with the sound, but they are tucked under pretty far, so tomorrow I'm off to get them extended 3". They still will be tucked
  14. I picked up a Prodrive axle back setup (with the original oval tips) from Fleabay ...for far too much $ probably...but wow, what a sound. Really deep and smooth... They are a bit boomy at low RPM and light throttle (but not exactly loud), perhaps because of the wagon. But when i'm on it and at that point the engine noise takes over for the most part. On the highway or cruise...virtually no sound. Moral of the story, if you keep the stock front end, most axle back setups should be fairly subtle if the cans are good quality. I'm a bit concerned about the sound when I go to a larger DP though...I'm a guy coming from a SpecB that was just a Cobb DP with stock exhaust and that was pretty mint. maybe just a shorty DP OR...STI quads I guess....
