  1. Unless they changed the rules about aftermarket IC in the last 6 months, they are legal. At the end of last year i went to about 5 different smog shops and asked to do a visual before i paid any money, It seemed that the 2 shops that know the rules the best had no problem with the FMIC. One of the shops even printed me a copy of the page where it said they were legal. although they didnt like the BOV or the boost 3 port EBC. i talked to the shops about the new laws and it seemed they really didnt know what the new tests were going to check. I asked if they would be able to tell if the car had a tune and one of the guys said, it will for sure know, even now it will tell if there is a tune. when i heard him say that i kinda laughed inside considering i just easily passed with a stage 3 tune. This info isnt really helpful for the new laws but i thought i would share anyways...
  2. ok so i got my car smogged and found out a few things. the parts i had to remove and make stock are downpipe, 3 port ebcs and bov. parts i could keep are turbo, injectors/pump, fmic, up pipe and stage 3 tune. the law is very confusing with regards to a fmic. i went to about 6 shop until i could find one that would smog it. the page in their book is appendix G G7 12-09. thats where the paragraph about the intercooler is. It says, "Category I" "Not necessary to check for CARB exemption" "Gasoline- Intercoolers for original equipment (OE) turbochargers. (note: diesel intercoolers are in category II and do require verification of CARB exemption)" so as long as your turbo is or looks stock you "should" be ok with a fmic. as far as the new OBDII tests, i talked to two shops and they both said at the end of the year they will start that. i then asked if i had a tune would it pass the obdII test, he said no. he then said if i had one now it wouldnt pass the current test... so it sounds like he doesnt know considering i have a tune now and i passed.
  3. its been a few months since anyone has posted on this thread, so has any one passed with bigger injectors recently? i got my renewal so i think im going to throw on the stock DP and keep my fingers crossed...
  4. oh man that looks like it would be fun. makes me want to get bigger injectors and start running e85...
  5. Dave just finished a stage 3 18g tune on my wifes car! She loves it and I'm jealous of her, i want her to buy a new car so i can steel her lgt, but i don't think she will go for that. i love driving it although i have a feeling i would be getting a ticket if i drive it to much, i cant keep my foot out of it, its just way to much fun! For those guys looking for a tuner, cryo is the way to go. Dave answered all my questions with fast replies, very professional. he was very patient and helpful with the problems i was having on my part with boost leaks and a couple vacuum lines mixed up. Over all a very nice experience working with him. Thanks, Bryan
  6. alright, thats it, time to move... i hate this state!
  7. This doesnt sound good for people with tunes that cant be returned to stock... Do you know when they will start testing this way?
  8. OH ok, i thought that was the same car. it was the wheels that threw me off, their not gold anymore...
  9. I saw two lgt's around 12 today within a few minutes of each other. The first was a white 4th gen, silver wheels, exhaust, and random body parts painted black. it was on old auburn then turned left on sierra collage, passed me as i was on the side of old auburn. The next one was a white 4th gen, black wheels, placked out taillights. i saw this same one in the same spot about a week ago. on hazel just before it turns into sierra collage.
  10. silver 4th gen yesterday in dovewood ct., orangevale about 8 pm. i didnt get a real good look at it but it had wheels, lowered, and maybe a tow hook on the back? it looked nice. i liked the drop on it.
  11. oh cool. i walked by it in the parking lot and was checking it out and after i walked away my wife was like "their was someone in there and now he probably thinks your some sort of creeper..." haha.
  12. hmm.. maybe it was light grey... i might of got the colors confused since i saw the other one at frys... do you have smoked tailights? it was turning off of lead hill onto sunrise.
  13. I think i might of seen two different lgt's or maybe the same one? first one turning right onto sunrise by roseville automall around 1:15. it was dark gray, gunmetal wheels, looked good! the second one was in the fry's parking lot about 10 seconds later. looked pretty much the same, had borla exhaust.
  14. white sedan with gold wheels, roof and part of the trunk painted black. lives around the corner from me by cirby and old auburn.
  15. that was me with the dented rear door... my wifes car... your car looked good!
