  1. That picture scrambles my brain... very cool.
  2. I'm just gonna leave my exhaust stock. The guy that bought my Jeep TJ has an '03 WRX wagon and he picked up an Accessport, intake and aftermarket exhaust (Forget which). He wanted to show me his car and took me for a spin. It sounded OK, but was pretty loud, I can see how it would get annoying quickly, especially on the highway. Anyways, our neighbor my wife's friend was over and they were talking; when the guy left with his WRX, neighbor girl commented "What is he, 17?". Gotta admit, I laughed. I'm 38 and WRX guy's around 40 as well. IMO, if it's not a V8, it's best left quiet. Some of the ricers that run around town, I'm actually embarrassed for them when I hear their cars. More embarrassed that they don't realize it sounds like shit, really.
  3. Ugh, I was pretty set on Cobb's (even though I wonder if they might be too low), now seeing Bosco's car on Eibachs, I have to admit it's probably the perfect compromise for here in western PA. The roads here are horrendous... Decisions, decisions, ha ha!
  4. I haven't noticed any issues at all. I find the car really predictable and stable, actually. I think some people like to blame quirky behavior on vehicles, when it's their own style of driving and/or lack of mechanical knowledge that is causing the problem. Anything with a rear LSD is going to be more tail happy in the back than something that is open. It's up to the driver to adapt to the mannerisms of the car and adjust their driving accordingly. If not, don't blame the car when you wind up in a ditch.
  5. When I was 18 I had a '76 Malibu. I used to drive down the road and shut the car off while I was coasting down the street. Let it build up some pressure, you know? Then I'd restart the car and it would fire off a sound equivalent to a shotgun blast. Typically I would do this right as I passed my friends as they walked down the street, just to make them squirt in their pants a little bit. Anyhow, after a few times of doing this, I happened to look at the bitchin' turbo muffler I had on the car and it looked like a Jiffy Pop popcorn container after it was heated. I suspect that a few more rounds would have blown a hole into the muffler entirely, but seeing that I couldn't afford another one, I stopped doing it. Maybe someone should try this in their LGT's. Hell, it wouldn't cost you a penny and you don't even have to get out of the car
  6. Good lord the climate control sucks. WTF is wrong with good old manual controls? Now that it's getting cold I noticed that if I turn the thing down to 66 degrees, it's still blasting liquid hot magma heated air through the vents, yet if I turn it down 1 friggin' degree to 65, it's blasting me with cool air that makes me freeze ma ass off, so my entire way in to work I constantly juggle the stupid knob back and forth between the two trying to get comfortable, but never achieving it.... Acccckkkkkk. Yay for overcomplicating simple controls !!!!
  7. I checked them yesterday, and like you said, there was no play anywhere. The one's on my Jetta definitely had play in them when they got bad. Thanks for the info. I will say that I don't think it's normal that my LGT is hummin almost as loud as the '00 Jeep TJ I had on 36" Super Swampers . Gonna call the dealer next week sometime
  8. Not to bash anyone, but giving a "stage" name to something as ghetto as putting some washers in between your pipes to make it louder? I just have to laugh. Anything to make the "mod" sound faster and furiouser though, eh? I'm not saying it doesn't sound good, I'm sure it does, but this whole "stage" crap is out of hand. Hey, when I was 17 I drilled holes though the mufflers of my '74 Satellite, that sounded cool too. I wish I could remember how many holes I drilled, I might have been stage 24 for all I know
  9. Good write-up, thanks. I had a '97 Jetta that ate front bearings like crazy. That car was a PITA to change. You basically had to rip the entire spindle off and press them in/out. So the Suby's are basically a bolt on deal, no pressing involved, huh? That's good to know. I'd assume that the rears are basically the same procedure? I'm getting a loud humming at around 60-70 that definitely doesn't seem like it'd be the tires. I'm gonna jack it up and check for play in the next few days. I bought the car two months ago with 30,600 miles on it, and have about 32,800 right now. The bearings should be covered under the warranty, right? One more question, do I need to call Subaru to get the warranty transferred to me, or is it basically automatic? Thanks
  10. The 20 click method worked for me perfectly... It's so much nicer without my car nagging me...
  11. Not in 1993 . I've tried to kill it, believe me. I just carried the logic of "why spend more money on something else when this still works" for alot of years
  12. Don't mean to take this thread on a tangent, but you're gonna love the meth. I have it on my Buick and I gained 8 lbs of boost and 10 mph in the quarter. I went from 13.6@100.53 to 13.0@110. My tires suck, so my 60's are only 2.2's, I'm left spinning while slower cars beat me . I haven't begun to scratch the surface of what the meth can do. I'm aiming for 11'7s then calling it good As far as the grommet, I have a bombproof older Kenwood amp that I'm gonna throw in the car and probably pick up a decent 10" sub to build around. I have an even more bombproof 15" Punch sub from 1993 (It won't die!) right now, but I don't want something that huge in the car. Those days are officially over for me. I concede to parenthood and responsibility... but not totally, lol
  13. Sorry for bringing it back from the dead, but I'm glad I stumbled upon this thread. Thanks
  14. I test drove and put a deposit on an '05 LGT that I hope to pick up by the end of the week. When checking to make sure everything worked I looked at the climate controls, pushed a few buttons and was completely lost within seconds, lol. I just took note that everything seemed OK with it and said to myself "I'll figure this nonsense out later". I'm used to economy cars with manual controls and Jeeps with zip up windows, this near luxury stuff is beyond me
  15. While I don't doubt it's true, it's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard of in my life. Can these people think of no other option than to drain their oil every night? . Not the brightest bulbs out there, are they?
