  1. Here is my rant, 4 years ago I bought my 2011 Legacy from a Ford dealership as well. I agreed to buy the car and a Ford extended warranty built into the price of the car. Low and behold the TC failed and needed replacement. Ford paid to have done. Now Subaru of America is offering to do the same. The extended Ford warranty cost me $1400 and this was figured in with the price of the car. I wonder if I should be paid for some expenses if not all from SOA?
  2. First thing is never ever trust or take your car to Faulkner Subaru. Replacement cost ballpark $1400 and you'll get 200k+ service. Seriously travel a bit north to W & L Subaru. They will be able to do anything required and responsibly. trust me. scott
  3. Also the only thing in common is that the T/Q shares the same fluid as it is not really a part of the CVT itself.
  4. Depends solely on when they quit suppling the 31100AB170 which is the faulty culprit. 2010 thru 2012 are only in question as this T/Q was its only fitment. Scott
  5. Seems to me 2010 - 2012 are troublesome. I googled my replacements part number. 31100AB171 I came up with fitment to 2010 - 2012. Also this number came up as an alternative maybe being the troublesome earlier fitment. 31100AB170.
  6. Invoice for what I think is a reasonable price for the repair from a very good Subaru dealer in the north east region. Good luck and I'm sure there will be little or no issues. Scotthttp://i1252.photobucket.com/albums/hh578/scott6058/Scan1_zpsce5745c0.jpegsonable quote.
  7. I believe 2010 and 2011's:rolleyes: do not have the updated T/Q....
  8. The replacement TQ is upgraded version also where as a bushing is replaced with a needle bearing. My 2011 never ran this good before. Best of luck and agree it should be a recall...
  9. Sorry no a problem with the CVT but your problem is the same as my 2011 The torque converter failing to lock out at a stop. I just had it repaired at the local dealer under an extended warrentee contract I bought. 74k on my Legacy and the cost were $675 for the Torque converter, $50.00 in fluids and $560 to R&I the engine. total $1280.00
