  1. As the guy who started (http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2936) this whole concept over three years ago (with the idea inspired by a post on an RX-8 forum), I can say with certainty that Jazzy's solution has been very popular, but from day one there have been a few folks VERY interested in a "no silent CD" solution, and if they choose Mike's solution, they certainly don't deserve to be called a dumbass by some newbie.
  2. Jazzy, congrats on your success with this product!
  3. If you only have one cd in the radio, it all works automatically.
  4. Here's a place that sells a $26 iPod cord that terminates in 2 phono jacks, plus separate +12V and ground lead. http://www.autosound2000.com/ipodadapters.htm
  5. I either connected to the radio harness or to the cigarette lighter, I don't remember!
  6. If you check out post #112 of the first implementation of this idea, (which used that same disassembled Belkin cord), I still had a ground loop, which I solved with one of the Radio Shack thingies... http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2936&page=12&pp=10
  7. If you check out post #112 in the original thread, you'll see I had the same problem, and solved it with a $17 Radio Shack ground loop fixer thinigie! http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=270-054
  8. So does someone have a pdf of this "Subaru Select Monitor" document so us mere mortals can have ammunition to go to our always-clueless dealers? I tell you, between non-documented options like this (believe me, it took many hours to figure out how to make this mod the hard way!), the burnt clutch smell from the car's goofy clutch hydraulics, and the continuous engine stuttering (that the dealer can't feel), I'm thinking another Audi is starting to look pretty attractive......
  9. Hmmm... Well, interesting. Where is this information in the service manual?
  10. Sorry, you are wrong. According to: 1. The Legacy owner's manual (See pages 26-27), and 2. the service manual (I can send you the pdf if you like...) there is no way to "program" this mod in the Legacy. (unlike my previous Audi S4, which did allow this feature to be programmed)
  11. I did not download that section of the service manual when I had my short subscription, sorry!
  12. This mod is still working great, for all you nervous-types.....
  13. Hm.. now you're thinking. I wonder. I wouldn't do that. Remember, the same wire locks and unlocks the doors..... the polarity probably switches for unlock...
  14. I do not have the security upgrade, but I don't think that matters. This mod is downstream of all the decision-making circuitry and logic. The light green wire goes directly from the connector to the door lock solenoid on the driver's door. The red-with-green-stripe wire goes directly from the connector to the door lock solenoids on the other three doors (and the tailgate on the wagon). By cutting the red-with-green-stripe wire, you are disconnecting the 3 doors from their existing "second-click-of-the-remote" output, and by connecting that wire to the green wire, you are simply connecting ALL the door solenoids to the "first-click-of-the-remote" output that already operates the drivers door.
