  1. I am finally getting around to gettting my tune...after more than 15 months with the turbo on the car! Yikes. Anyway, I am on my second revision from shamar but am having a problem with ECUFlash. I haven't had any issue using ECUFlash to flash the base map, or either revision, to my ECU, but I can only run the program on a fresh install and I am worried that it may not be writing perfectly without the updated ECU definitions file from step 13. ECUFlash will not open for me after I update the subaru metadata directory. I fiddled around with it a bit and discovered that it was simply due to the massive increase in files it was trying to read on start-up. If I update the metadata/subaru folder with the linked file (as described in step 13), then remove everything inside of it except for all of the Legacy, Liberty, and base folders, I can start ECUFlash without any problems or errors reporting on the right side of the screen. Once I did this, however, and loaded one of the revisions Shamar sent me, many of the parameters inside of the lested list on the left were greyed out, where they were previously all black. Should I be concerned, or am I just being paranoid? Can I properly read and write to the ECU on my 05 5MT LGT without updating the ECU definitions in ECUFlash?
  2. I can not get RomRaider to see my ECU. ECUFlash and Learning View both connect to my ECU just fine, in fact I've already gotten my baseline map flashed to my ECU. I got into my car tonight to do my log and I could not get RomRaider to see my ECU. When I open the logger (by opening romraider, then selecting "Launch ECU Logger" from the Logger drop-down menu at the top) there isn't anything in the drop-down menu that should let me select the port that I have the VAG-COM plugged in to, and it does not bring up my ECU ID in the bottom right. I tried logging a lazy drive down the street and the XML file came up blank. Any suggestions?
  3. Following Adoniram's walkthrough VERY carefully worked for me. I probably read each step a dozen times. Yes, and as for the string of characters in ECUFlash alerting you that your cable is working properly, I also had something different after " xxx A400___" Keep working at it. I was sure that I'd done it properly but it wasn't working, so I uninstalled and started over. That did the trick for me.
  4. Thanks fahr_side, that did the trick. I was looking for a walkthrough specific to the FP line last night to post this in but did not find one. I'll continue to look for it and swap this info into that thread because this seems to be pretty critical. Admittedly I did not use all of the washers that were included with my FP line but there wasn't any real direction on what to do with all of them. Perhaps this is my mistake but it is probable that someone else will make the same error. Thanks again!!
  5. i wasn't sure how to word my response, exactly, but I was thinking to myself that the oil that was pouring out was coming out in the type of flow that would indicate it was capped on the bottom. I'll give that a shot in the morning, thanks! Is it possible to have done any damage to the turbo if I've overtightened that banjo? or should I be golden once I slip more washers in there and retighten?
  6. I got my 16g install wrapped up last night and got the car cranked up. The banjo bolt on top of the turbo with my new FP oil feed line was leaking quite a bit of engine oil at an alarming rate so I shut down immediately. What could cause this? Obviously I need to pull the banjo bolt out and reinstall it into the top of the turbo, but I'm not entirely sure that I did the install improperly. can anyone help? I'm hoping that there is something very boneheaded that I've done. Msprank...Shamar got the base maps to me this evening. Sorry again for the PM.
  7. Thanks Adoniram! And great write up. Very very helpful. I followed the directions, but in Windows Vista Home Premium (64bit), here is a small change: When you plug your VAG-COM cable in, you'll get a pop-up. Click the option that says "don't do anything this time, but prompt be again next time". Next, go straight to your Device Manager and install from there. If you try to install from the pop-up, you'll never be given the option to tell Windows where to look for the drivers. Also, be sure to use the drivers in the x64 folder in the Drivers folder (not sure of exact extension).
  8. I was able to get it from a buddy. msprank will be hearing enough from me soon haha! No need to bother him with this.
  9. My Chinese cable came with a mini-CD that did not include any version of ECU Flash. Any chance of someone emailing it to me? Every link I've found for the drivers is dead. PS I already sent money to msprank for the eTune...didn't know you offered the cable too
