  1. I just did the 217,000 oil change. I have the 0171 booger, and can't find the vacuum leak. There is a spot of oily residue on the seam of the Intercooler. I thought I found it on a hose that wasn't tight enough. It's going in PA inspection in a few weeks, and I don't want to pay the friendly mechanic to fix it.
  2. It made it through another ECoast winter. current 214k last maintenance was done in Aug 2016. 7500 miles ago. It does have an ABS and SS warning. The bottom channels on the drivers side Front and Rear doors are pretty rusty. She just keeps on rolling. Secret.. She doesn't get beat on. I did a nice job on the Turbo and replacing the Timing, accessory belts, water pump and valve gaskets about 20k ago. I had to replace a couple of wheel bearings. Had to replace 2 out of round wheels. I have owned it going on 5 years, it took two years to get it running right. Once I replaced all the turbo related rubber, it ran tight. It had a full set of beautiful Conti DWS tires that had to be replaced at almost full tread, due to sidewall failure (well, why were the wheels bent? potholes). Tire RACk! The LGT Aluminum wheels are crap. This is a great beater to leave in long term Aeropuerto parking. Newark! like someone is going to steal it. LOL!!
  3. 207,000 made it through another basic service interval without turning a wrench. The rust in the lower drivers door is starting to look nasty from the inside. now to make it to 211,000.
  4. Excellent about 4 weeks without turning a wrench. drove it Saturday, sounds like maybe another wheel bearing is on it's way out, but If I replace it, I'll just go with a new Lexus.
  5. Shh! Several months thinking there was a blown head gasket, I was checking it every morning before she took off on her 17 mile commute. Then I found a small leak in the hose from the return on the very top holding tank. Coolant was slipping past the (original) clamp. I changed both out with stainless. Within a day the hose split. Replaced about 8 " of hose with new clamps, and Voila. I am on my tippy toes, because I know the next problem is around the corner. It would be nice to make a 3750 mile service w/out turning wrenches. For her, it's a fight. She is going to drive it to the junkyard, and I have already saved it many times. My Diesel Truck is 16 years old and about to hit 180k.. It is very reliable. My point being, Subaru is a fun brand, but the aluminum boxer turbo motor @ 200k is going to fall apart. The bosses and the head bolts will go bad on any aluminum motor.
  6. Wow. just wow. She had an intermittent over heat on the 2006 LGT Turbo, and I couldn't figure where the coolant was going. Somedays, the coolant would be 1 QT low, others, it would use none. Never saw it leaking, or smelled coolant at all. I figured head gasket.. was finally blown, and she was going to drive it to the junkyard. I had a few minutes and with a flashlight and a mirror, I found a clamp under the intake that had slipped backwards and wasn't tight. There were some signs of coolant but maybe evaporated? Tightened the hose clamp, and shazam! been problem free for about 500 miles. IN last 20,000 miles, this LGT has been on the rack (my rack) at least 20 times for a wide variety of issues. Stuff wears out at this mileage, and then you have to depend on aftermarket to keep it between the lines. It looks and drives great! hoping to go through a couple regular service intervals with no repairs.
  7. 202k Its parked. All tags and insurance new tires. Has all fluids up to date. It is running as good as it ever has. She won't drive it because the temp gauge pegged on the H last time she had it out. The radiator was 4-5 fingers low, nothing in the overflow, and a little in the upper reservoir. I'm thinking it burped those 4 fingers when she ran it with the heat. I've driven it 2x for about 50 miles revved to 5k a couple times under warmed up conditions. Fine. It sits outside and the rotors get a little oxidation, so I'll run it again today. A newer one is on the horizon. No more turbo Subarus, that is for certain.
  8. 196k and shes DD'g it for the winter season in SE PA. The door jamb rust on the lower seams of the Drivers and Passenger's door is working its way to the other side. I love to drive this car, knocking on wood that I don't have to put it on a lift until May. I am sure, if that happens I will just buy the doors off car-part. The timing belt and accessories will have to be R&Rd. who knows, maybe this one makes it another year,, or not? hopefully it makes it to 200k!
  9. 192k The 06 LGT is in the garage (my garage) Low Beams are not working. The filament in Driver's Side is broke. The filament on the PS looks in tact. I clamped up some direct current, the PS doesnt work. In the last 2000 miles, I have learned not to overfill the bottle with coolant. I was thinking it was using coolant, but not, it was overfilled. I have also learned the shaved 5 spoke wheels are impossible to find. They are definitely a weak point with all the potholes in NJ and PA. Replaced 3 this winter. Two of the fancy CONTI's developed bubbles in the sidewalls. In the meantime the rust spot on the inside of the driver's door has gotten worse. I am going to sand it, and brush on epoxy primer, and silver enamel. nothing fancy. I predict another 20k in this car before it becomes too much to repair.
  10. Bettenhausen was running the 3.8 at Indy back in the day. There were a few others Scott Brayton. They sounded awesome!!
