  1. I am ashamed of them, but they'll certainly do. I had cut semi-circled out of ⅛" stainless plate with a cutoff wheel.
  2. Wish I'd been more involved with this forum during my ownership of this car. Figure I'd make up for that by sharing a bit of this build. Long story short, ID1050's and a BNR 20G blew my headgasket after 3,000 miles, so here's some of my engine rebuild. Skipping all the boring teardown stuff, here's the centerpiece. This is a rebuilt EJ257 out of an 06 STi. Rebuilt with King XPG Bearings, Manley H-Beam Rods (Arp2000 rod caps) and Wiseco 2618 pistons. I'll be using a Moroso oil pickup. First and easiest things first, the oil cooler assembly, and oil pickup/pan. Before I can continue with the head studs I'll be using, I'll be taking care of the deck surface. The deck was true straight out of it's donor vehicle, so I'll be cleaning it up with a dense foam sanding block, and 320 grit paper. Here is a .0016" gauge, can't slip in anywhere. Here you can see the 11mm ARP2000 Head Studs I'll be using. Already had a couple things installed at this point, like the new Group-N motor mounts, water pump, and oil pump. Here's the oil pump. I'm using an OE 11mm STi oil pump. These pumps began usage when the 08+ STi's began utilizing dual AVCS, and required more volume. In my case, I'm also going to be using 3 shims in the pressure bypass valve. Anaerobic sealer, all torqued down, ready to go! She's ready to get her heads. Will be using OE headgaskets from a complete OE Gasket set. Here's what we'll be using in our freshened up D25 heads. GSC +1mm intake and exhaust valves, GSC stopper style Bronze Valve Guides, GSC Single Valve Spring Kit, with Titanium retainers. Here's how they look after getting cleaned up, decked, valve guides installed, and valve seats all cut to fit the oversized valves. Aren't they gorgeous? Will be reusing stock cams. I did have an issue with a single cam on each head. One would each bind excessively when the caps were all torqued down. Not knowing exactly how that came to be, I polished the cam journals down with 2500grit paper until they could move freely. Worked better than I expected! Tried achieving even sanding on both halves. Heads on, cams installed, ready for some accessories and valve covers. Skipped a lot of accessory installation. Oil lines, water crossover, my AEM 150psi Oil pressure unit on the front galley, the oil dipstick, the oil filler neck, etc etc. What I dreaded most was installing the timing belt with beefier valve springs. It ended up being doable by myself, but it wasn't so awful compared to OE springs. Skipped a few pieces along the way, but it's all straight forward. With all the heads, and timing components buttoned up, I can focus on the intake and exhaust manifolds, and then continue onto miscellaneous wiring. Here's the motor 99% ready to be dropped in. Some bonus content, I'm running a TIAL 44mm MVR EWG on this setup. Previously, I had MAJOR fitment issues with my Nameless DP. The divorced wastegate tube got in the way. I got away with hammering and bending it out of the way for awhile (Didn't have anything to flow through it anyways) but in preparation for this rebuild, I finally got around to cutting and welding it. Oof, it is not a good feeling mutilating one of the most expensive downpipes on the market. But it still came out great, and it'll give me plenty of much needed space to tinker with the EWG. (Helps that I'm a professional TIG welder) With those capped off like so, everything is good to go. Waiting to find some time to drop the motor back in, and get it tuned. Too many other things done to the car to talk about here, but maybe I'll get a chance to talk more about that later.
  3. Just realized there was even a thread here devoted to gaining Flex Fuel support. Boy what an emotional roller coaster of a read this has been. I'm stoked! Been dying to have flex fuel on my 07 LGT since forever. I'm getting giddy at the thought of it finally becoming reality! Emailed Cobb about my interest, and asked for any new ETA's. I've certainly got cash quarantined for this.
