  1. I've been fighting a P1443. All the valves (purge and vent) made clicky sounds with the green connectors connected. I disassembled, tested, and cleaned the purge valve, no change. Hmm. One hint from the forums was a P1443 apparently triggers on negative pressure? Dunno how accurate that poster was, but set me looking for the vent. This was not clearly documented in the 04-05 manual (the one that got "loose" that everyone has). Anyway, if suffering from a P1443, before spending money... Take the driver's side rear fender apart. Easy for me 'cause mine is shredded somewhat. Three nuts drop your charcoal canister. On top of the charcoal canister, take 6 clips off and there's an air filter! Mine was completely full of fine dust. Packed, to the point there was dust right to the lid. This is the after shot. Blew it out with compressed air. Very messy. The hose in the lid just opens unguarded into a structural member. Don't bother looking for the other end - you'll likely break the clips like I did and have to figure something out. Just blow it out with a lot of compressed air and you'll be fine. Mine was quite full, to the point I could dump dust out of the detached free end. 48 minutes later - no code, and cruise control still works. Longest previous record since this problem developed was 21 minutes till the CEL for P1443 came back. Need to slap silly whichever idjit decided a CEL should disable cruise, BTW.
