  1. The little tab/pin thing that stick out the end of the cam that's supposed to go into a hole on the cam.sprocket wasn't. It basically half made it's own hole in the cam sprocket and I'm just guessing probably was never seated onto the cam all the way. So that whole cam was probably off 3 or 4 degrees, if not more, all the time. Whoever tried to work on this car in the past I don't think did anything correctly. Edit.. oh wait, they did 1 thing correct, they took out all the banjo bolt filters. Oh and my accessport is reading a max of about 12 psi boost.. so ah not bad I guess. This kind of confirms a stock tune.
  2. I found my good ol version 1 Accessport. Black box green screen. 2005 awesomeness. It's not good for much but it will read live boost. Cobb recommended I need to buy a new one cuz they said this can brick my ECU if I tried programming with it. Doesn't matter cuz it's still in love (married) to my old gold digger.
  3. So a few weeks later and more work done.. the problem isn't completely solved but maybe half?? I get an intermittent check engine light now, sometimes it runs great and other times kinda not bad but just not as good.. So idk. But one of the intake cam sprocket gears was not on right, it was turned about a 1/4 of an inch so it wasnt timed right nor was it seated on the camshaft correctly.. Also found a vacuum hose that was disconnected. So I still have a number of small oil leaks, only when its cold though for some reason. So this is how its going to be until it blows up, I rebuild the engine, or just buy a rebuilt engine, we will see how long it lasts. So next up is trying to get a Cobb Accessport. If anyone around has a v2 or v3 they are selling let me know, I am trying to get one. I can get a new v3 for $550, if I can find my old Accessport, but I really don't want to spend that much money right now. Still don't know what tune is on the car, if any. I need to get something to check boost. I have my old Accessport (somewhere) but I am not sure if it will connect to this car and just give me a boost reading, I might have to try it if I can find it.
  4. Thanks, yah i wouldnt be able to make it down to Cinci. I was planning on getting another Cobb Accessport at some time but I need to see if it will marry to a car if the car still has a tune or is still married to some other tuner, which I really have no idea. Subaru said they might be able to tell if its been tuned somehow from, I think he said, starting cycles?? But Idk. Tuesday Im just paying Subaru $70 to just do basic diagnostic check and inspection so hopefully I will be able to find out more after that. But we will see.. I know the car is leaking oil also, I fixed one bad leak already, but I believe this one is from the Camshaft seals, but idk if that would be enough to set off the P0011 and p0021 codes.. Ive been trying to find any and all the reasons these codes would be set off but that I cant find. Everything I have found so far is just "the timing is off" or its the oil control valves.. But there has to be more to it than just that. Basically the cams dont seem to be adjusting to the turbo boost levels, or at all. Like the AVCS is not working. But trying to find out why this isnt working is almost like ancient voodoo.
  5. Thanks for the info everyone.. Merc its good to know you had so much trouble with the passenger side OCV, I had the same problem.. I was thinking someone shaved the block or head on that side, but good to know thats not the case. I ended up just grinding down the stupid mount for the turbo coolant tank and was able to slide it in. I am not sure about the tune. I wanted to pay Subaru to reflash the ECU and the service guy just kinda didn't really tell me that they could or couldn't do that. He seemed to just avoid that question for some reason.. Ive replaced both OCV's, checked all the banjo bolts accept the one behind the driv. side cam gear and all the filters have been taken out already. I honestly think my turbo is f'd up, or has different internals and I think is leaking coolant internally and/or externally. Next week my car is just going to go to Subaru and I am going to have them see if they can find anything particularly wrong. They can atleast pressurize the coolant system and stuff and see if there is a leak somewhere as well. This is my second LGT so I know all about keeping the oil right, and full, and changing it when youre supposed to. My first LGT I always used Mobil1, and changed it ever 3-4k miles (usually adding atleast 1/2 quart in between because the car drank oil for breakfast, lunch, and dinner) I had 165,000 miles on my first one and never had a single problem with the engine. My old LGT ran 13.2 1/4 miles at 30,000 miles and was still running 13.2 1/4 miles at 160,000 miles.. stock turbo the whole time. Unfortunately my first one went through two 5 speed manual transmissions and 1 front diff.. that transmission sucked.
  6. Just a random question and checking to see if anyone has a stock turbo they don't want, have an extra, bought a better one? Have any of your ever rebuilt a turbo? I have no idea if the turbo on mine is actually working right.. I fixed a bad oil leak from the oil pump but I have these dumb cam timing over advance codes.. So Ive been working on that.. Most of the time the car runs perfectly fine.. The only thing ive noticed is it seems to be wonky doing 3rd gear pulls.. sometimes has power, sometimes not, and the turbo just seems to me like its boosting too much. The car seems faster to me than it should for a stock car. I'm going to see about getting a reflash from Subaru to make sure it has a stock tune.
  7. Do you actually live in Cleveland? What color is your Legacy? Just wondering if I've seen you around at all anywhere...
  8. Thanks for the info. I actually used to live in Willoughby, I saw Subaman online somewhere, but yah $4k for new seals seems like crazy.. that's like the price to just rebuild the whole engine so idk.. I've always liked this website personally, i know its maybe not used as much but.its easy to find how it's and get help from people. I also have found Legacy owners are a little different, maybe better?, than just the whole general Subaru owner population. Plus I use Facebook but honestly kinda hate it. So anyways, I live on the west side now and found a place I think I'm going to take it. There used to be a mechanic at Ganley East in Wicklife that was good, but he had like multiple sclerosis or something like that and I don't know if he's still there, but he did transmission work a few times on my car and always did it right. I could work on the car myself but half of me just doesn't want to anymore unfortunately I'm just not as young and as energetic anymore.
  9. I basically half remember going over to the Boneyard, that looks like my LGT with the polished stock rims I think. I tried joining Neosoc and whoever owns it just never replied to me trying to join.. so I was just like ok then.. so my Legacy now needs some engine work done and I'm trying to decide where to take it.
  10. Thanks Merc, found it yesterday. I think you were the one I bought some mufflers from a long time ago. The trans was super low on fluid and it was black, not super grungy, but thicker than it should be. I have a feeling they were putting auto trans fluid in the center differential instead of the transmission. So going to have to change that too I guess.
  11. Well, I'm officially crazy. I bought another 05 LGT. I say for better or worse, richer or poorer... but with these, definitely poorer.. But actually have 2 questions.. is anyone even here anymore?? Annddd do any of you know where the heck the auto transmission filter is?? I thought I saw someone say behind the headlight?? Is this true?
  12. Anyone know of a Atlantic Blue 05 LGT Limited out of Massachusetts with white plasti dipped stock LGT wheels? beige leather, automatic, it has some mods, header and exhaust, Perrin blue silicone tuning, looks like it had an Accessport, so I figured I would check here.. its for sale by me and trying to see if anyone knows about the car.. Thanks for any help!! Im a former 05 LGT owner and have been looking for another one..
  13. My Legacy is gone. Have a 2003 Mustang GT now. Miss AWD, but aftermarket parts are a fraction of the price. Last I knew my Legacy was for sale somewhere in Michigan. So who knows where it is now, or if its even still running.
  14. Interesting.. not many posts at all lately. People on another forum? Nasioc? I raced a new STI very recently and I believe I was pulling on him a weee bit.
  15. Yep I have a Stromung. It would be interesting to see if yours is exactly the same as mine since I got mine 5 years ago. We need to try and get together this summer again sometime and see how our cars sound. I am running a resonator on mine now, I think its a Dynomax. I had to quiet it down a little because I know not all the neighbors appreciated a great Subie engine sound. I now have another rebuilt tranny and went back to Spec for my clutch. The Spec clutch is so much better than ACT. I dont plan on ever buying another ACT clutch for anything.
