  1. Not sure if anyone is still considering upgrading their OB XT to JDM Bilsteins, but I'm selling everything you need EXCEPT the Bilsteins. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/ma-ob-xt-parts-jdm-shocks-265135.html?p=5687167
  2. I have run into the same problem changing my diff fluid. I knew it was going to be an issue so I already bought a new dipstick. However, I have broken almost all of the plastic off the top of the disptick trying to get it out. jhp240 - You said that the spout/tube that houses the dipstick isn't threaded, but you were able to removing it by turn it along with the dipstick. If it's not threaded, how did you get the tube/spout back on? Thanks.
  3. What tire size were you running on the 18" wheels? I hadn't thought about potential issues with 18" wheels. Right now, I'm running stock wheels, but running 17"s with the stock tire size is starting to really limit my tire choices. In the summer, I like to run max performance tires (GY Eagle F1's right now, not available in stock size anymore).
  4. Reviving a very old thread here. I wanted to find out how many guys did the Bilstein upgrade? I know that M. Schneider did and I've talked to him several times to get his feedback. Not that I don't trust his input, but I'm looking for other reviews if any exist. So if you did the Bilstein upgrade, please let me know your thoughts on improvements etc. I might have the $$$ to do something soon and I intend to keep the 05OBXT as long as it runs. I have some suspension bushings that need to be changed so it might be a good time to do everything. I've been sitting on the necessary top hats etc for a while now. Needless to say, I want the holy grail - improved handling, no significant increase in NVH, and reliability. The Bilsteins sound like the way to go (as opposed to MR coilovers). And yes, I've done all the other stuff already - bigger rear sway and AVO endlinks and max performance tires. A good friend of mine from college, lives in Japan so he's middle man.
  5. Let us know what they say. My friend in Japan contacted Hirano for me and this is what he told me: they said they cant deliver to USA. Buyer has to arrange on their own if they wanna ship it to out side of Japan. Insurrence is covered by the delivery service agent if its within Japan. They can except Visa card, but there will be 5% charge for it. The price you saw on the web is for cash only. They also suggested if you are sending abroad, you should covered the product in plastic case or someother ways to protect the product.
  6. The weight of the 2.5XT that I listed for was the base trim. I believe starting with 06 models the 2.5XT was only available as a Limited. Weight for a 05 XT Limited AT is 3,565. So, a lot closer to the 3.0R.
  7. I think everyone tracking this thread has read Mike's write up and will agree that an upgrade to one of the Bilstein kits will be an improvement over stock. But, what's the better "fit" for OB XT's given the differences in weight? The 5056 or 5058 kit? Thoughts? 2005 curb weights 2.5i with AT = 3,355 (-125) 2.5XT with AT = 3,480 3.0R LLBean = 3,600 (-120)
  8. I'm doing the same as DiscoPete and going with the 5056 kit. Note, there's a typo on the p/n for the dust caps. Mike has the correct p/n in his thread, but listed the wrong one. I can confirm b/c I have all the parts already. Just waiting to pull the trigger on the BTS kit.
  9. Has anyone approached Bilstein USA recently? I'm guessing that in the end we would have about 8 to 10 serious buyers. Based on previous postings, I doubt they will do anything, but worth the a shot.
  10. So what are the next steps on this? - $1,800 for kits from Japan - Germany: is this option dead? - USA: make one last pitch to them by putting together a list of serious buyers and sending it to them?
  11. Interested. I've already contact Hirano through a college roommate who is from and lives in Japan. But, I think life would be easier through a group buy.
