  1. Just had it confirmed (via VIN) by a friend of mine who is a Subaru Tech, it's a SMFW. It's time to go shopping.
  2. Yeah, that's what I was hoping to do. But there seems to be some conflicting information on if the Spec B's have a SMFW or a DMFW. I have seen it reported both ways. I guess we will know as soon as I have the car torn apart as too which one mine has. Lol
  3. They are probably one of the best Subaru builders in my area. Full machine shop, body shop and service center. http://www.iagperformance.com/
  4. Interesting. Guess I will need to give IAG a call and let them know.
  5. Why did you switch out the DMFW? Would it not work with the clutch?
  6. Yeah, I am in contact with a couple of vendors now and we are trying to get to the bottom of the clutch mystery as far as the Spec B's go. Lol
  7. Yeah, I understand that part of it now. What I am now wondering is if I can just have my OEM flywheel turned and install the STi clutch pack using the OEM flywheel. According to a couple of vendors on here as well as IAG, I can do that without a problem. I really don't need a LWFW, it's not a track car.
  8. Yeah, that's what I figured. I have been going back and forth with IAG all day and it looks like I can run an STi sized clutch with my stock flywheel. And you are right, the clutch disk and the pressure plate is the larger part. Hopefully we can get it hashed out soon. Lol
  9. I read that it's a larger flywheel and can hold more power? Would I need to have the stock flywheel machined? I thought the Spec B's were a dual mass flywheel? I will shoot him a PM and see what he says, thanks.
  10. Has anyone run the Spec Stage 2 clutch with a stock flywheel? My Spec B needs a clutch and I really don't need a LWFW. I was going to upgrade to an OEM STi FW and then pick a clutch. Anyone see any problems with that?
  11. So it looks as if my Spec B is finally going to need a clutch, it's been stage 2 for about 10,000 miles (48,000 miles total on the car). From what I have been reading it looks like can go two ways on my car: Upgrade to an OEM STi flywheel and a STi clutch, or stick with my stock flywheel and just upgrade the clutch. Is this the correct thinking? I am leaning more towards the STi combo since it will give me a larger clutch but it seems that option tends to be the more expensive way to go. Would a replacement clutch specifically for the Spec B still hold up to the higher stage 2 HP and TQ levels? Also what does labor normally run for a clutch install?
  12. I love all the warning lights on in the dash. Car is probably saying WTF is going on!
  13. This is very fun to watch. GM V-6's really do not get enough respect when it comes to performance. When I was building up my little V-6 Fiero GT everybody kept telling me to give up and just swap in a V-8. But when I finally got it finished and put it on the Dyno they shut up immediately. Good luck with your build!
  14. Just curious, what does the JDM bumper and all the parts go for to pull this off. Cars look great!
  15. Subscribing for the boost/Nav integration progress.
